CenterStage with Genworth Financial Welcomes Area Kids for Day of the Arts, 3/3

Children of all ages will be spending the day at CenterStage to participate in Lights Up! - A Youth Open House sponsored by Genworth Financial. The day of events includes more than 40 interactive and audience events in music, dance, theater and visual arts.

The workshops and lecture-demonstrations are led by many of Richmond’s talented performing arts organizations and artists, including Richmond Shakespeare, Latin Ballet of Virginia, Virginia Opera, Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony, SPARC, Hands and Pans, Elegba Folklore Society, Henley Street Theatre Company, Brenda Johnson and Art 180.

There are also performances by Silly Bus, Latin Ballet of Virginia, SPARC and the Richmond Symphony. Throughout the day, participants can visit the EXPO featuring the event sponsors, art-making stations, the Digital Learning Center and the Musical Petting Zoo. Additional Bronze Sponsors include Bon Secours Richmond Health System, WTVR-6, Harrison Music, Martin’s and Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The day kicks-off at 11:00 a.m with a Richmond Symphony LolliPops Concert featuring Benjamin Britten’s A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, followed by an Opening Program at Noon with host Antoinette Essa from CBS 6, and two former First Ladies of Virginia Anne Holton and Jeannie Baliles.
