Loudoun County residents, dance lovers and area art enthusiasts will experience the astonishing Bowen McCauley Dance (BMD) for one evening only when the dance company takes the stage to kick off the Arts Center Fall season on Saturday, September 26th. This is the first time a professional dance company has been invited to perform at the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center.
BMD's performance will feature two audience favorites - Lucy's Playlist and Golconda. The former had its premier at Signature Theatre in June to sold-out crowds. Enjoy as Lucy Bowen McCauley, Artistic Director, and the BMD Company bring pop and rock tunes to life with "amped-up" set design by renowned artist Robin Rose. The fun is infectious. In Golconda, McCauley's imaginative and captivating choreography merges with Vaughn William's "Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis" to create a lyrical and mystical other-world experience. The Washington Post has identified the Company as Metro-DC's premier contemporary dance company and the Washingtonian Magazine has cited Lucy Bowen McCauley as among the "top men and women who have helped transform Washington into one of the nation's liveliest centers for the performing arts."
Prior to the performance, join BMD for a "Creating Art-Creating Community" reception, where guests can connect and share philosophies about the relationship between art and community.
On Sunday, September 27th, McCauley will conduct a free dance class through VSA Arts Virginia- Loudoun County for people with Down Syndrome. VSA Arts, an affiliate of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, is an international, nonprofit organization that creates a society where all people with disabilities learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts.
Known as Loudoun County's premier venue for art and entertainment, Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center uses a blend of traditional post and beam construction and modern amenities to create the most intimate entertainment experience possible.
