ZORRO THE MUSICAL - Artisan Center Theater

AUDITION DATES: Monday, January 14, 2019 from 7-10pm and Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 7-10pm.

CALL BACKS: Callbacks (if necessary) will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 7-10pm.

LOCATION: Auditions will be at Artisan Center Theater's Second Stage at 444 East Pipeline Road, Hurst, Texas 76053.

REHEARSAL DATES: Rehearsals will begin Monday, February 25, 2019 and will be Monday-Friday from 7-10p and Saturdays from 9a-5p. (Not everyone will be called for every rehearsal.)

PRODUCTION DATES: The production runs April 12-May 11, 2019. Performances are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 7:30pm, with additional Saturday matinees at 3pm beginning April 20. Most parts are double cast to accommodate scheduling.

Please choose 16 bars of a song in the style of the show that will best display your vocal ability and come prepared to sing with your sheet music cut and marked and in the appropriate key.

An accompanist will be provided so accompaniment CDs or phone recordings may not be used. Please bring a headshot/resume and your completed audition info found at http://artisanct.com/auditions. The dance audition will be from 8-9pm on January 14-15. All actors who wish to be considered for a role must attend one of the two dance auditions. Actors will learn and perform a dance combination, so please bring clothes you are comfortable dancing in and appropriate dance shoes. Please be warmed up and ready to dance. If asked to return for a call back, expect to dance and possibly learn/sing a song from the show. Actors will be given six complimentary vouchers to be used during the first four performances, a season ticket (valid for one year) to be used during the first week of Main Stage productions, a show t-shirt and access to digital production photos.

ABOUT THE SHOW: This legendary story of good versus evil has been a source of enduring fascination and has been the subject of a best selling novel by producer Isabel Allende and several major motion pictures. Zorro the Musical retells the dramatic tale of a romantic hero with spectacular sword-fighting and incredible magic ? all set to the famous red-hot Gipsy King beat brought to the stage with the authentic colors of traditional flamenco.

ROLES AVAILABLE:Diego De La Vega: Male. Lead. Play 22 ? 30. A charismatic, charming, performer. Destined to be the Alcalde of Los Angeles but runs away from the academy in Spain. He comes back to Los Angeles when encouraged by Luisa. He opposes the cruel actions of his brother Ramon and becomes Zorro to fight for justice.Ramon De La Vega: Male. Lead. Play 24 ? 34. Diego's elder brother and self-appointed leader of Los Angeles after his father dies. Does not listen or care for the people and enjoys the power of leadership.Inez: Female. Lead. Play 30?s. A lovely gypsy woman, somewhat older than Diego, but still sexy. This strong woman is the leader of a band of Gypsy?s.Luisa: Female. Lead. Play 20-28. A strong woman who is committed to help the citizens of Los Angeles. Childhood friend to Diego. She searches for him in Spain when his father dies.Sergeant Garcia: Male. Supporting. Play 20-48. Ramon's sergeant. Clumsy comic relief. This reluctant soldier is pushed around by Ramon.Alejandro De La Vega: Male. Featured. Play 38-60. Alcalde of Los Angeles. A good and just leader. STRONG ENSEMBLE NEEDED: Gypsies, Soldiers, Peasants, People of the Pueblo, Sailors, etc. to be played by the company. Dancers and singers will be very busy in this show. The show will consist of Flamenco sections that may be challenging.
