The East Haddam Stage Company, East Haddam CT, is looking for two mature, professional, committed actors to portray William Gillette (famous as Sherlock Holmes) and James O'Neill (famous for the Count of Monte Cristo and father to playwright Eugene O'Neill) for an original two man play, William and James, A Ghost Story, by Gina Tracy.
The play is based on an imagined conversation between these two giants of the stage, sharing that with all of their success, they are still haunted…by people, what ifs, regrets and loss. Setting is the Player’s Club, 1899, NY City.
Rehearsals begin on September 16th, 2024. Performances are over two weekends, October 17-20 and 24-27, 2024. Paid, non-AEA contract. Looking for actors ages 40-60. Rehearsals and performances will be at Gillette Castle State Park, 67 River Rd, East Haddam CT. We ask for a picture and resume to be submitted in advance. Audition window is now through August 15th. Auditions are by appointment, in person or can be submitted via video. Call backs are in person. Contact Kandie Carle for audition sides in advance.
William Gillette, born in Hartford CT (1856-1937) was very tall and thin, quiet, intense, and known for bringing a realistic style to the stage. Although a famous actor and playwright before Sherlock Holmes, that is the role he is best known for.
Jame O’Neill, born in Ireland (1847-1920), made his name in the US with a larger than life style of acting, best known as Dante in The Count of Monte Cristo. Slight Irish brogue helpful. Father to playwright Eugene O’Neill.
