Open auditions will be held to cast the world premiere of Who You Again?, written by Ryan Okinaka. The show will be directed by Denny Hironaga and runs March 24-April 24, 2022. Both the auditions and performances for this production will be held live at Kumu Kahua Theatre.

Show description:

A family struggles to care for their matriarch as dementia slowly steals her memories away. Her grandson's method of existing within - and adding to - the imaginative world she inhabits creates a special bond. He helps her cope with the changing realities, and she gives him the gift of self-acceptance.

Director Denny Hironaga is looking for actors to fill the following roles:

Grandma Mele- 86yrs old. sharp and active, yet showing signs of dementia. Constant struggle between a tenacious spirit with a fragile body.

Thomas- 20-28yrs bubbly, playful, curious, and stubborn. His curiosity and assertive nature aids him in making new discoveries.

Mom/Leah- 50-60yrs stubborn, tired, strong, and caring. The oldest of seven kids, she’s been a motherly presence since she was a child. Working, volunteering, and caring for her mother has stretched her very thin, yet, somehow she perseveres.

Dad/Robert- 40-50yrs carefree, energetic, vibrant, yet naïve. Not the best father and an ex-husband to Leah. Robert seemed to cause this small family more problems than anything else.

Colin- 24-34yrs. Kind, passionate, nurturing, yet slightly vain. A registered Nurse; Colin is brought in to assist the family in caring for Mele.

All actors should be familiar with the play. A digital copy of the script can be found
here. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
