WAIT UNTIL DARK - Possum Point Players

Possum Point Players community theatre has scheduled auditions for the winter production of “Wait Until Dark” by Frederick Knotts on Sunday, November 6 and Monday, November 7. Auditions are from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Green Room at Possum Hall,
441 Old Laurel Highway Georgetown, DE.

Opening on Broadway in 1966 and adapted into a successful film starring Audrey Hepburn in 1967, “Wait Until Dark” is described as a nail-biting psychological thriller about three con men in search of a doll filled with smuggled heroin. The doll has ended up in the apartment of a blind woman. “Wait Until Dark” is directed by Jordan Kilgore. Rehearsals will be in December and January before performances January 27-29 and February 3-5, 2023.

“Wait Until Dark” cast requires one woman, six men and one girl, age 10 to 14.

Susy Hendrix is a clever, kind, and vivacious young woman who recently lost her sight in an accident. Mike Talman is an up-and-coming con man just out of prison and down on his luck. He is a charmer, but should he be trusted? Carlino is also fresh out of prison and strapped for cash, he is Mike’s more weathered and jaded partner. Will he influence Mike? Roat comes on as the brains of the operation. He is a master manipulator whose character is clever and genuinely terrifying.

Gloria is the 9-year-old girl who lives in the apartment above Susy and helps her while her husband is out. She has a strong personality and perhaps abilities beyond her years. Sam Hendrix is Susy’s husband. He is an ex-Marine who admires his wife very much while also expecting a lot of her. Two policemen appear near the end of the play. These roles are essential to wrapping up the story!

Complete and detailed descriptions of characters are at
www.possumpointplayers.org. Director Kilgore said that the roles of Susy, Mike, and Roat will be required to learn and perform fight choreography. In addition, the actors playing Susy and Roat must be comfortable navigating the stage in complete darkness for an extended period of time. Any questions regarding characters can be sent to the director Jordan Kilgore,
jordank1230@gmail.com.

Actors will be asked to read sides from the script and are only required to attend one night of auditions. Actors may provide a headshot and resume if available. Actors must come prepared to advise the creative team of any scheduling conflicts they may have in December or January.

Those who would like to view copies of the audition sides, or who are unable to attend audition dates and wish to make other arrangements may contact Jordan Kilgore. Those who have any other questions regarding casting or crew assignments may also email
