What: Unexpected Productions, Seattle’s preeminent improvisational company, is holding General Auditions on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
What are we Looking for?: We seek experienced improvisers, actors, comedians, and other performers who think they will be a good fit in the UP Improv Ensemble. All are encouraged to sign up for an audition time. We are looking for strong ensemble players with familiarity with short and long form improv techniques and desire to learn. We look at who is confident and competent with their improv and who know when to make a bold choice. Must be available for regular shows on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Development opportunities: There are two monthly ensemble meetings/advanced workshops/rehearsals. There is also an opportunity to audition for other UP Improv shows.
Commitment: There is a performance expectation of two Theatresports shows on average per month (at 10:30pm on Fridays & Saturdays). If you know that you are generally unavailable on these dates over the next year, please do not request an audition at this time.
Audition Format: The auditions are free-form. We will be running approximately 20-minute-long auditions, with no more than 6 participants in each. NOT EVERYONE WILL BE ASKED TO AUDITION. All submissions will be considered, regardless of whether you are asked to audition.
We do warmups, scenes, games, and short-form sets with others auditioning. Anywhere from 2 – 6 people from UP Improv will be watching auditions. We make it a point to create a fun, comfortable environment. We may ask certain individuals to stay longer than others, but that doesn’t necessarily mean someone is in or out. If necessary, we will send an email shortly after auditions to notify those who we would like to see at callbacks. Notification of acceptance to the Theatresports ensemble will no later than April 30, 2018.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 11:59 pm, April 12, 2018.
What do I Need to Bring to Auditions? Just yourself! You don’t need to prepare a scripted piece, as everything will be improvised. Having energy and being ready to have fun is pretty important. You probably don’t want to wear a suit or dress, as some of the warmups and games used in the auditions can get pretty physical. If you did not attach your resume and headshot to your audition email request, please make to bring them to the audition.
This is a great opportunity to perform with a welcoming and fun, respected ensemble that has been in existence for 35 years.
