Pothos Arts & Theater House is ecstatic to announce Los Angeles’s inaugural Trans Voices Cabaret! Trans Voices Cabaret was created in 2017 by transgender actor and performer, Donnie Cianciotto, and has had performances in New York, Chicago, and London.
Seeking
Local singers, any age. Must be trans or gender-nonconforming. Each singer will present a song, either from a musical or an original composition. Each singer will be responsible for providing their sheet music in their key. We will have a piano accompanist.
Pay
Each performer will be compensated a $75 stipend, based roughly on 4 hours of labor.
Time Expectation
Performers will be expected to attend one of two rehearsals to have a chance to run through their song with the accompanist before the actual performance. Rehearsal dates TBD. Tentatively scheduled for May 14, 15, 21, 28, or 29. If necessary, we may arrange to have accompanist run through songs June 3 at 6:30pm before the performance.
Performances are Friday June 3 at 8pm and Saturday June 4 at 2pm. Call time is an hour before curtain. We expect the show to run about an hour and a half.
We ask auditioners guarantee availability for one rehearsal and both performances.
Location
Rehearsal location TBD. We are looking at venues in Downtown LA or Torrance in the South Bay.
Performances will be in the Ruby Theatre on the ground floor of The Complex Theatres and Studios in Hollywood, 6476 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90038. The Parking in front of the theater is metered, while free street parking is available on Romero St and other neighboring streets.

To audition, we ask that performers send in a video showcasing their vocal ability. Unlisted Youtube video preferred, but Google Drive, Box, Dropbox also accepted. We prefer to be able to view online without having to download the video. Please state your name and pronouns at the beginning. Backing track/accompaniment is preferred but not required. Typical “self-tape” setup, etc. is not required. Phone videos are perfectly acceptable, so long as we can see and hear you clearly in the video.
Please also submit a headshot and resume if you have them.
We understand auditioning is itself often prohibitively difficult labor. For this reason, we are also open to receiving a recent video that showcases your current vocal style. Selfies or any picture that best represents you are also permissible. We understand headshots are expensive and often not always how we wish to present ourselves. Don’t worry if you don’t have a resume, but please include some details about your performing experience!
