Email casting@timberlakeplayhouse.org to schedule your audition slot. All unscheduled slots will be released for in-person signup at 11am on the day of the audition.

VIRTUAL SUBMISSIONS

If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, please submit a self-tape of a 32-bar musical selection that demonstrates how you might best fit into the 2024 season, a monologue, and a dance reel (with preference to dancers who can tap). Along with these, please include a headshot and resume to
casting@timberlakeplayhouse.org.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 32-bar musical selection that demonstrates how you might best fit into the 2024 season. Provide sheet music as an accompanist will be in attendance. Please have additional selections, including a monologue, ready upon request. Bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

For consideration for “The Nerd” or “Clue: On Stage” please come prepared with a brief comedic monologue.

THE NERD

A Comedy by Larry Shue

Seeking:

WILLUM CUBBERT: 25 - 30s. Willum is an architect and a pushover. He's kind and intelligent, but could use a little gumption. He lacks the backbone to stand up for himself.

TANSY MCGINNIS: 25 - 30s. Willum's on-again, off-again girlfriend. She's been offered her dream job in Washington, D.C., and feels guilty for leaving Willum behind. Idealistic, perky, weather woman, and is just as kind as Willum.

AXEL HAMMOND: 25 - 30s. Willum's best friend, he lives in Willum's basement. He's a pretentious, often-inebriated drama critic, always ready with a sarcastic comment.

RICK STEADMAN: 25 - 30s. The titular nerd. He's oblivious to insult and lacks manners or sensitivity. Works as an inspector at a chalk factory in Wisconsin.

WARNOCK WALDGRAVE: 35 - 50s. A boisterous, slightly dim businessman with no creativity and no tact.

CLELIA WALDGRAVE: 35 - 50s. Mr. Waldgrave's high-strung, put-upon wife. She holds back all of her emotions, and only releases her stress when she can break something small.

THOR WALDGRAVE: 7 - 10. The Waldgraves' terror of a son. Spends most of the play hiding in a closet or bedroom.

FOOTLOOSE

Seeking:

REN MCCORMACK: 18-20s. Tenor. Energetic, emotional, rebellious, likable; emotes his pain through quirky sarcasm and dance; strong dancer.

REVEREND SHAW MOORE: 35-55. Baritone. The powerful, traditional local church leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still struggling with the death of his son.

VI MOORE: 30-50. Soprano. Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.

ARIEL MOORE: 18-20s. Mezzo-Pop. Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s daughter; has a strong belt, a strong singer/dancer.

RUSTY: 18-20s. Great soprano/pop voice. Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, and knows everything about everything; has a strong belt, strong comedic timing, and dances.

WILLARD HEWITT: 18-20s. Tenor. A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile; has comedic timing and dances.

ETHEL MCCORMACK: 30-50. Soprano. Ren’s mother; had a tough go, just trying to make it...would do anything for her son.

CHUCK CRANSTON: 18-20s. Tenor. The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend.

URLEEN: 18-20s. Mezzo/Alto. Ariel’s friend; the smart one of the group; has a strong belt, comedic timing, and dances.

WENDY JO: 18-20s. Mezzo. Ariel’s friend; has a strong belt, comedic timing, and dances.

HOPE HARCOURT: 18 - 20s. Soprano. Prominent debutante. Strong singer and should be able to dance or move well.

BILLY CROCKER: 18 - 20s. Tenor. A young businessman who is in love with Hope. Strong singer and should be able to dance or move well.

LORD EVELYN OAKLEIGH: Wealthy Englishman, and Hope’s fiancé. English accent, strong singer and the ability to move well.

EVANGELINE HARCOURT: 40s - 60s. Soprano/Alto. Hope’s overbearing mother. Ability to move well is a plus.

MOONFACE MARTIN: 40s - 60s. Baritone. A hapless gangster, “Public Enemy #13”. Strong comic timing, plus the ability to sing and move well.

ERMA LATOUR: 20s - 30s. Mezzo Belter. A playful, independent, impulsive, and loveably clueless “dame”. Strong singer and the ability to move well.

ELISHA WHITNEY: 40s - 60s. Baritone. A nearsighted tycoon who always believes he’s right. Ability to move well is a plus.

SPIT & DIPPY: 20s - 40s. Tenor/Baritone. Two rascally New York City street toughs. Ability to move well is a plus.

DOROTHY GALE: 18 - 20s. Mezzo Soprano. Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more. Must be comfortable with dogs. Very strong singer who moves well.

SCARECROW/HUNK: 18 - 20s. Baritone. Scarecrow is plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Acrobatic skills are a plus.

TINMAN/HICKORY: 18 - 20s. Tenor. Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Tap skills are a plus.

COWARDLY LION/ZEKE: 20s - 30s. Baritone. A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Big voice with excellent comic timing. Strong baritone to F.

GLINDA/AUNT EM: 20s - 30s. Soprano. Good Witch of the North who is the mother figure for the Munchkins and Dorothy whom she guides through Oz. Benevolent and beloved.

WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST/MISS GULCH: 30s - 40s. Alto. Crafty and vain. Like a froggy, ferny cabbage, the Wicked Witch of The West is unnaturally green!

PROFESSOR MARVEL/WIZARD OF OZ: 50s - 60s. Baritone. Traveling salesman who lives by telling fortunes; a con man but with a good heart. Older father figure with an eccentric flair.

UNCLE HENRY/OZ FRONT GATE GUARD/ENSEMBLE: 30s - 40s. Baritone. Kansas farmer whose wife, Em, runs things. Adoring uncle to Dorothy. Comical Oz guard who gets flustered and bossy.

WADSWORTH: 20s - 30s. A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play.

YVETTE: 20s - 30s. A sexy, French Maid, with her own secret aspirations. (Also plays THE REPORTER in the final scene).

MISS SCARLET: 20s - 30s. A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam who is more interested in secrets than sex.

MRS. PEACOCK: 20s - 30s. The church-going wife of a Senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.

MRS. WHITE: 20s - 30s. A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.

COLONEL MUSTARD: 20s - 30s. A puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.

PROFESSOR PLUM: 20s - 30s. An academic Casanova who woos women with his big… brain.

MR. GREEN: 20s - 30s A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious.

ENSEMBLE WOMAN 20s - 30s to play:
THE COOK – A threatening presence.
THE MOTORIST – A benign gentleman who rings the wrong doorbell.
AUXILIARY SCARLET – The back of Miss Scarlet during a scene of theatrical trickery.
AUXILIARY WADSWORTH – Wadsworth during two scenes of theatrical trickery.
AN AGENT – An FBI agent who helps to save the day.

MR. BODDY – A mobster type fella. A dark cloud follows this guy wherever he goes.
THE COP — A “Regular Joe.”
AUXILIARY MUSTARD – The back of Colonel Mustard during a scene of theatrical trickery.

SIR DANVERS CAREW: 40s - 60s. Baritone. Emma's father, well-bred and loving.

SIMON STRIDE: 20s - 30s. Baritone. Jekyll's rival, handsome, upper class.

LADY BEACONSFIELD: 40s - 60s. Alto. Society dowager but still on the prowl.

BISHOP OF BASINGSTOKE: 40s - 60s. Baritone. Conservative looking but has a secret hobby with the ladies of the night.

LORD SAVAGE: 40s - 60s. Baritone. Man-about-town, arrogant. Doubles as Spider, a pimp.

SIR ARCHIBALD PROOPS: Baritone. 40s - 60s Queen's Counsel, all-business.

GENERAL LORD GLOSSOP: Baritone. 40s - 60s. An old fashioned Army General with dated ideas on discipline.
