Casting for the 5th New Jersey run of this Perry Award-nominated Outstanding Original Musical.
CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES
ZIO VITO: Average build, 5'6-5'10; 42-48. The character immigrated from Sicily to New York's Little Italy and speaks with a slight Italian/broken English accent. The character recites words and phrases in Sicilian. Therefore, knowledge of the Sicilian or Italian languages would be extremely helpful. New Jersey-based actors are preferred, although applicants based in New York will be considered.
MARIA VOLPE: Slim/average; 5'5-5'8, 45-50. Mediterranean beauty-type. Shoulder-length or longer hair. This character speaks English with a heavy Italian accent and recites words and phrases in the Neapolitan Dialect. Therefore, a knowledge of the Neapolitan Dialect or proficiency with the Italian language would be extremely helpful. New Jersey-based actor preferred, although applicants based in New York will be considered.
BENJAMIN GOLDMAN: Average; youthful 50-60, 5'8-6'1. Very light brown or blond hair. The character is a very successful businessman. New Jersey-based actors are preferred, although applicants based in New York will be considered.
EDDIE JONES: Average, 30-40; the character is the bartender and club owner. Applicants must be experienced singers and reside in New Jersey.
YOUNGER DANTE: Slim, 21-24, 5'6-5'8. The character is a high school senior in the 50s, and the younger version of a Sicilian immigrant. He is macho with medium-length dark hair. Applicants must be experienced singers with dancing ability and reside in New Jersey.
FATHER CIRO PARLATO: Average, 5'6-5'8”, 30-32. The character is a Brooklyn-born, Italian-American Roman Catholic Priest. Applicants must reside in New Jersey,
JOEY SASSO: Average, no specific height or weight, 25-30. Italian wise guy-type. Applicants must reside in New Jersey.
TONY MANCUSO: Athletic build, 5'7-6'1, 25-32. The character is a macho, Italian American, edgy, brash, wise guy-type. This is an important singing and dancing role (baritone/tenor), and the ability to read music is desired. The character is a U.S. Navy Sailor and wears an authentic uniform in the show. Applicants must closely match the character’s physical description as stated. New Jersey-based actor preferred, although applicants based in New York will be considered.
Travel for rehearsals are subsidized. Performances are paid.
Rehearsal information: The “Meet and Greet” and first vocal rehearsal is on July 21. Rehearsals are on subsequent Sundays. Not all cast members attend every rehearsal. Tech Week begins October 7. Performances are October 11-13
