THE URCHIN AND THE RIPPER: PROOF OF CONCEPT - Vagabond Repertory Theater Company

A Proof of Concept of a few scenes for a future 2023 Staged Play called The Urchin and The Ripper

Context: This proof of concept came about as part of a contest, where the theme was Alternate Universe Jack the Ripper.

Benjamin Butler is a young cockney urchin in Victorian London. He is like The Artful Dodger, in that he has a swagger and playful demeanor to him, and he lives a seemingly care free life in the streets.

Carefree, that is, until he stumbles upon what very well may be a killing by Jack the Ripper. Now, Benjamin seems to be haunted, as well as hunted, by this killer.

This voice-over gig will be a paid one of 100.00 each for the two performers we are auditioning.

Roles Needed:
1. Lady of the Evening: Age 25-30 A street prostitute that Benjamin encounters late one night. She is a saucy, cockney lady. She soon becomes one of the victims of Jack the Ripper.

2. Jenny Mulhenny: Age 10-12 A somewhat lower class girl, though she still takes pride in herself. She likes Benjamin a lot, but would much prefer him to change his thieving ways before she'll fully consider herself His girl. A cockney British accent, or a slight Irish brogue is needed.
Note: The director asks that age appropriate performers audition for this role only. At this time, we are not accepting auditions from any older performers who can play/sound younger.

All interested performers can send their headshot, demo reel, and resume to: VagabondRepTheater@outlook.com
