THE SYMPOSIUM BY PLATO - Terrault Contemporary

Auditions will be held on Sunday December 7 & Saturday December 13 from 3-5pm at Terrault Contemporary for a theatrical adaptation of The Symposium by Plato.

The immersive play will be performed on February 7, 13 & 14 2015 at Terrault Contemporary, 1515 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore MD, 21202.

Please come prepared with a 1-minute classical monologue fitting to a comedy or romance. Post below or email platosymposium2015@gmail.com for more information.

Casting for the following roles:

Agathon - Young, Male or Female. Host of the Symposium and beloved of Socrates. Lifelong companion of Pausanius.

Alcibiades - Prominent Athenian Statesman, orator and General. Male or female. Inebriated for the entirety of their performance.

Aristodemus - Barefooted runt of low birth, dwarfish and poor. Lover of Socrates. Male or female.

Aristophanes - A comic playwright. Male or female.

Eryximachus - An Athenian Physician, middle-aged, male or female. Close friend to Phaedrus.

Pausanius - A legal expert, lover of Agathon. Male or female.

Phaedrus - Athenian Aristocrat associated with Socrates' innermost circle. Name translates to "bright" or "radiant." Embodiment of the fecundity and potential tragedy of philosophical eroticism. Guest of honor and master of ceremonies at the Symposium. Male or female.

Socrates - Eminent philosopher and human oddity. Male or female.

Several slaves/performers - Two slaves will have large speaking roles as a young socrates and his educator in love, Diotima. Seeking musicians and performers with solo acts.
