4th Wall Theatre, a non-union theatre company, will hold open auditions for all roles for its production of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall. The show will be directed by Gwen Ricks-Spencer and stage managed by Martha Thalheimer. The show will be presented February 23, 24 and 25 at a venue in either Maplewood or Montclair. Auditions will take place November 19 and 21 at the New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts in Bloomfield. Rehearsals will begin immediately after Thanksgiving.
ABOUT THE SHOW
The Mountaintop is a gripping re-imagining of the events taking place the night before the assassination of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering his magnificent and memorable “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, an exhausted and defeated Dr. King retires to Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel where he encounters a mysterious and spirited stranger as an epic storm rages outside. What follows is a reflective, often funny, often touching conversation in which Dr. King examines his achievements, his failures, and his unfinished dreams. The Mountaintop won the Olivier Award for Best Play in 2010 and ran on Broadway in 2011 starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett.
