THE ENCHANTED BOOKSHOP - Lionheart Theatre Company

The Lionheart Theatre Company is excited to announce open, non-Equity auditions for our July production of “The Enchanted Bookshop” by Todd Wallinger.

All roles are non-paying. We do it for fun!

This production is directed by Sean Casey.

Audition Dates:

– Sunday April, 28th, 6 pm-8:30 pm

– Monday, April 29th, 6:30-8:30 pm

Possible Callbacks

Wednesday, May 1st, 6:30-8:30 pm

Actors only need to attend one of the audition days.

Show Dates:

July 25-28, 2024

Thursday and Friday at 7:30 pm

Saturday at 11 am, 2 pm and 7:30 pm

Sunday at 2 pm

Play Synopsis:

During the day, A Likely Story may look like any other used bookstore. But at night, it’s a place where magic happens. That’s when the characters inside the books come alive, and try to help Margie, the scatterbrained owner, save her struggling store.

CASTING:

We intend to cast broadly in regards to age, race/ethnicity, gender identity, body type, and physical ability. We also welcome learning disabled and neuro-diverse actors.

Available Roles:

Margie: Scatterbrained bookshop owner

Bombalurina: Margie’s sneaky cat

Mom: Customer, Timmy’s mom

Timmy: Child who hates books/loves violent video games

Robin Hood: Vain, medieval English outlaw (English accent)

Tom Sawyer: mischievous Schoolboy

Sherlock Holmes: Brainy English detective (English accent)

Toto: Dorothy’s dog

Dorothy: Wizard of Oz’s Kansas farm girl

Heidi: Melodramatic Swiss mountain school girl (Swiss/German Accent)

Pollyanna: Annoying optimistic school girl

Book Fairy: Dramatic, overbearing magical creature

Lady in Red*: Mysterious shopper

Fagin*: English pickpocket (English/cockney accent)

Long John Silver: Pirate. Speaks pirate.

Officer Ketchum: Blundering police officer

Fingers: Dumb jewel thief

Eddie: Bossy, dumb jewel thief

Dr. Doolittle*: English veterinarian who talks to animals.

Queen of Hearts: Hotheaded queen of Wonderland

Frankenstein: Monster that grunts

Wicked Witch*: Dorothy’s smart aleck enemy

Hopalong Cassidy: Noble cowboy

Understudy/Swing*: Margie understudy/Swing all other roles/Assistant stage manager

*Actor may have multiple roles
