For The Drowsy Chaperone, please prepare 16 - 32 bars showing range and in the style of the show and be prepared to dance. Please bring music in your key, an accompanist will be provided. Bring jazz or character shoes and tap shoes if you have them. Please come with headshot and resume stapled together.
For Boeing Boeing, auditions will involve reading from the script.
Rehearsals for The Drowsy Chaperone will begin (approximately) January 23. Performances March 17– April 22. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Also scheduled: Thursday evening – April 12th, 2 Wednesday matinees March 21 and April 18. All roles are open and paid. Restaurant opportunities available. No housing.

Entire cast is an ensemble cast. Physical comedy/timing, word play and ability to play stock characters in an energetic, endearing way a plus. All roles dance and/or move to varying degrees (depending on role/number).
Man in Chair: Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden Age. As the only non-stock character in the show, he narrates and converses directly with the audience as he listens to The Drowsy Chaperone record on vinyl. Funny, charming, with a range of mannerisms that are adorable yet grounded; improv experience a plus. Minimal singing in bari-tenor range.
Mrs. Tottendale: The host of the wedding in the musical. Flighty, eccentric, often times forgetful, and funny, she is absolutely charming, bubbly and oblivious to the confusion her behavior generates in other people Range: G3 - Db5
Underling: Mrs. Tottendale's savvy butler who is thrifty and stiff yet has an understated sense of dry, sarcastic humor that would make Bea Arthur proud. English accent. Tenor character voice. Ab2 - G4.
Robert Martin: The groom-to-be who is in love with Janet, he is the token 1920's leading man: debonair, dashing, ever-cheerful. A matinee-idol that is always on. Embarrassingly so at times. Must be able to tap dance and roller skate. Tenor: C3 - Ab4
George: Robert's anxious, and well-meaning best man who always has Robert's interests at heart. Loyal like a puppy. Must be able to tap. Tenor: F3 - Bb4
Mr. Feldzieg: Harried Broadway producer who is desperate for his star, Janet, to return to his Follies show. Typical Producer of the era: impatient, overbearing, and blustering. Aren't they all? Baritone. Db3 - Db4
Kitty: Feldzieg's dim-witted, lovable companion. The chorine who has hopes of being a star, a cross between Goldie Hawn "Laugh In" and Lina Lamont from Singin' in the Rain. Strong character/comedic timing. Soprano/belt. Bb3 - F5
The Gangsters: Posing as pastry chefs, this jovial duo intending to collect from Feldzieg. Typical 1920s gangsters with excellent wordplay, synchronized movements, and a vaudeville sense for timing and gags. Acrobatics a plus. They could very well be the disowned criminal element of the Marx Brothers family. Db3 - Gb4
Adolpho: European self-proclaimed "ladies man." A Latin Lothario who is confident and larger than life, his bravado knows no limits. A former silent movie star with all the facial and physical expressions that became his trademark style. Fake Spanish/Italian accent. Don't ask the latino director for help on that one. Bass/Baritone with falsetto: A#2 - G4
Janet Van De Graaf: Glamorous, youthful and talented star of Feldzieg's Follies. Loves being the center of attention, no matter how much she denies it. The epitome of a 1920's starlet caught in the (First World) predicament of having to choose between becoming a famous bride or giving up her life on the stage. Strong movement. Special skills a plus (acrobatics, juggling, etc). Wide range/big belt: G3 - E5
The Drowsy Chaperone: Janet's alcoholic confidante and friend; carefree, experienced, a woman of the world who lets the world know what she's thinking at all times. Must have strong sense of timing and physical/facial expression - knows when to land a line just at the right moment. She's every sassy best friend from any sit-com, musical or movie that we all want to hang around. Alto with strong belt. F3 - D5
Trix: The brave and brash female aviator, who, by chance, is recruited to perform the wedding. A real go-getter of the new American spirit. Will double in the ensemble as needed. Alto/Mezzo: Ab3 - Eb5
Ensemble: Wedding Staff, Reporters, etc. All must be able to sing and dance and have strong engaged personalities
Boeing Boeing Character Breakdown:
Bernard- an American architect living in Paris. Juggling 3 fiancées - all of whom are flight attendants for separate airlines, none of whom know the other exists.
Robert – Bernard’s old school friend who comes to visit and gets caught up in helping his friend avoid disaster.
Bertha – Bernard’s housekeeper who becomes caught up in the insanity.
Jacqueline - a French or Italian flight attendant and one of Bernard’s fiancées.
Janet - an American flight attendant and one of Bernard’s fiancées.
Judith - a German flight attendant and one of Bernard’s fiancées.
