Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Auditions for The Secret Garden
Hershey Area Playhouse announces auditions for the first production of its 2018 season, The Secret Garden on Friday, Nov. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Callbacks will be held Sunday, Nov. 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Auditions will take place at the Playhouse, located at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Cherry Drive, Hershey. If you are unable to make the audition dates, but want to be considered for a role, please contact the show’s director, Jilly Harris, at

Two roles, Mrs. Winthrop and Mrs. Medlock, are non-singing roles. Four additional adult ensemble members and two children ensemble members will be cast to flesh out the chorus.
Mary Lennox and Colin Craven are both age 10 in the show. Auditioning age range is 8-12 for these roles. Martha and Dickon’s ages are switched for this show with Dickon as the older brother. Martha will be cast late teens-early 20s age range. Dickon will be early-mid 20s age range. Archibald, Neville, Rose, and Albert will be late 20s-30s age range. Late teens up to late 20s age range will be considered for Lily.
Those auditioning are asked to sing at least thirty two (32) bars of a song that best fits the style of the show and demonstrates their musicality and vocal range. An accompanist will be provided; please ensure your sheet music is already appropriately marked and easy to read with cuts made for the accompanist. Those auditioning may use a CD or MP3 and a CD player and speakers will be provided. Please no a cappella. Sides will be read by all auditioning and will be provided. While not required, it is encouraged to read the sides in a British dialect.
Performances of The Secret Garden will be held Feb. 8-11 and 15-18, 2018 at the Playhouse. Additional audition information is available on the Playhouse’s website,
