THE SCHOOL AT JACOB'S PILLOW KICKS OFF 2014 AUDITION TOUR

JANUARY THROUGH MARCH

NEW YORK - CHICAGO - LOS ANGELES - LONG BEACH

What: The School at Jacob's Pillow, one of the most prestigious dance training centers in the U.S., will hold auditions in Chicago, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and New York City for its 2014 professional advancement programs. Master class auditions, in which no cuts are made, are scheduled for the Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance Programs and will be led by internationally-lauded dance artists. Jacob’s Pillow auditions provide an excellent opportunity to take a professional class, gain audition experience, network with fellow dancers in the field, and learn how The School at Jacob's Pillow impacts career opportunities. Ballet Program applicants must audition by video.

Auditions are part one of a two-step process leading to the selection of 24 dancers for each of the four programs. Dancers of The School learn to work as an ensemble during their time at the Pillow and experience the artistic rigor demanded in the field today. Auditions are open to advanced dancers, ages 15 and up. No pre-registration required. There is a $15, cash only, audition fee.

If dancers are unable to attend in person auditions, video auditions are highly encouraged and given the same consideration as in-person auditions. Digital video audition details can be found by visiting

Scholarships are available to dancers who are able to prove financial need, including the prestigious Lorna Strassler Award for Student Excellence established in 2004 by Pillow Board member Lorna Strassler and her husband. This annual award, which offers young artists with professional encouragement backed by material support, provides a full scholarship and $2,500 cash to a young artist demonstrating excellence in performance, combined with exemplary dedication to the field.
