Newnan Theatre Company announces auditions for the drama, The Pillowman, by Martin McDonagh on August 28 and 29. Directed by Bert Lyons, The Pillowman will be presented on November 10-13 and 17-20, 2016, in the NTC Black Box Theatre.
The Pillowman is a play written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh in 2003. It tells the tale of Katurian, a writer of short stories that often depict violence against children, who has been arrested by two detectives, Ariel and Tupolski, because some of his stories resemble recent child murders. When he hears that his brother Michal has confessed to the murders and implicated Katurian, he resigns himself to his execution but attempts to save his stories from destruction. The play includes both narrations and reenactments of several of Katurian's stories, most notably the autobiographical The Writer and the Writer's Brother, which tells how Katurian developed his disturbed imagination by hearing the sounds of Michal being tortured by their parents.
Auditions will be Sunday, August 28, from 6:30 – 9:00pm and Monday, August 29, from 6:30-8:30pm in the Newnan Theatre Company Black Box Theatre. One-minute contemporary monologues are welcome, but not required. Appointments are not needed for these auditions, and those
auditioning can attend either night.

Katurian – late 20’s – mid-30’s
Ariel – mid-30’s – mid-40’s
Michal – late 20’s – mid-30’s (1-3 years older than Katurian)
Newnan Theatre Company does not charge production fees of any kind to any performer to take part in our productions. All roles are non-Equity/non-paying.
