Statewide Children’s Auditions in Cambridge, Duxbury & Dorchester for José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s

Over 500 Children expected to audition for the

most beloved holiday classic!

WHO: José Mateo Ballet Theatre

WHAT: Children’s Auditions for The Nutcracker. José Mateo Ballet Theatre is looking for 200 children to fill 3 casts in the roles of Party Children, Mice, Soldiers, Angels, Court Attendants, Polichinelles, and Clara.

Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre’s 25th annual production of The Nutcracker will tour this holiday season to The Duxbury Performing Arts Center (November 24-25), The Sanctuary Theatre, Cambridge (December 1-16), and The Strand Theater, Dorchester (December 22-24). All children cast in the production will perform in all three locations.

WANTED: Children and teenagers ages 6*-18

*Previous dance experience is not required for children ages 6-10

WHEN: Saturday, September 8, 2012, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

WHY: José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Nutcracker is the only local professional production to hold open auditions for young dancers outside its own school.

Cuban-born José Mateo is Founder and Artistic Director of José Mateo Ballet Theatre, one of America’s leading producers of new ballets, and the area’s most innovative school for quality ballet training. Founded in 1986, Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre’s highly acclaimed Company regularly presents Mateo’s innovative vision of classical ballet at its stunning Sanctuary Theatre in its home at the Old Cambridge Baptist Church in Harvard Square,Cambridge.
