The Normal Heart In the aftermath of celebrating the liberating sexual revolution of the late 1970s and early 1980s, what past generations had fought for may be the very thing that is killing them. In Larry Kramer’s largely autobiographical piece, Ned Weeks along with his band of misfits, navigate a world where love is dangerous, oppression is rampant, and silence is the most deafening. How many people have to suffer? How many people have to die? How many have to scream to be heard? In this dynamically shocking comment on governmental silence, love in a war zone, and what it means to be indeed unashamed of who you are, this group explores the public and private indifference to the AIDS plague as we follow one man’s lonely fight to awaken the world to this crisis.
