Calling All Kids! Audition for THE MUSIC MAN at Walnut Street Theatre!
Who: Local Boys and Girls, Ages 6-13, and Walnut Street Theatre
What: Walnut Street Theatre will hold auditions for Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN on Sunday, September 9. Boys and girls, ages 6-13, will sing and dance for their chance to be a part of this spectacular production. The Walnut is looking for 30 young actors who will perform live onstage, from November 6 – January 6, as part of Broadway’s classic family musical! Why: Walnut Street Theatre hires Philadelphia first. Tons of local talent will fill the theatre this holiday season as part of Meredith Willson’s all-American musical THE MUSIC MAN. Thirty local kids will be selected to perform on the stage of the oldest theatre in America.
It’s 1912 and the lovable, fast-talking con man “Professor” Harold Hill arrives in River City, Iowa promising the townsfolk that he can teach the town’s children how to play in a magnificent marching band if they buy uniforms and instruments from him. It’s all part of a big swindle, but falling in love with the town librarian wasn’t part of the deal. With classic tunes that include “Ya Got Trouble,” “Goodnight My Someone,” “Till There Was You,” and the show-stopping “Seventy-Six Trombones.”
