The Theatre Group at SBCC announces open auditions for its summer production, THE MUSIC MAN by Meredith Willson, directed by R. Michael Gros, musical direction by David Potter. April 20 & 21, 2015,6:30-9:30pm by appointment in the Jurkowitz Theatre. Musical auditions will be held first, please prepare a song from a traditional musical theatre production and bring the sheet music in the key to be sung. An accompanist will be provided. Call backs will be on April 25 from 10am-5pm. Rehearsals start May 26 and performances are July 8-25, 2015 in the Garvin Theatre.
There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
AVAILABLE ROLES: There are many roles - All roles are open. Children and teens are encouraged to audition for ensemble roles.
