Williams Street Repertory announces “The Addams Family” auditions

WSRep, McHenry County’s growing professional theater company, announces auditions for fall 2019 production!

Williams Street Repertory, McHenry County’s growing professional theater company, is excited to announce auditions for its fall 2019 production of “The Addams Family” at Raue Center For The Arts.

“I'm thrilled to finally have Kevin Wiczer steering this production. It’s taken about three years to line everything up,” says Founding Artistic Director
Richard Kuranda**. “Kevin is one of the best emerging directors in the country and I am sure it will be a huge hit!

Wiczer** is an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society as well as a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. His regional directing credits include “Spring Awakening” (
Theatre Nebula), “Ruthless: The Musical” (
Steel Beam Theatre) and “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” (
Metropolis Performing Arts Centre).

The creative team for WSRep’s upcoming production also features Musical Director Bryan McCaffrey. Originally from Scotland, McCaffrey’s recent credits in the United States include “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Company” (
Wheaton Drama). His recent credits also include Theatre Nebula’s “Spring Awakening,” directed by Wiczer.

WSRep’s “The Addams Family” reunites Wiczer and McCaffrey with Choreographer Kristine Burdi, who previously choreographed Theatre Nebula’s “Spring Awakening.” Burdi has worked as a choreographer throughout the Chicagoland area for 15 years. Her other recent credits include “Chicago” (
Big Noise Theatre), “Avenue Q” and “Young Frankenstein” (Metropolis Performing Arts Centre).

In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and nightmares are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, none more frightening than this... Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up.

What’s worse, she’s fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart, young man from a respectable family. When she invites the Beinekes over for dinner to meet her family secrets will be revealed, relationships will be tested, and the Addams family will face up to the most horrible thing they can imagine... change.

“’The Addams Family’ has been bringing laughter to audiences all around the world from comic strips, to television, to movies, and now this hilarious new musical,” says Wiczer.

WSRep’s production of “The Addams Family” opens September 27, 2019 and runs select dates through October 20, 2019 at Raue Center. Rehearsals will begin August 26, 2019 and the run will feature 8 p.m. shows on Fridays, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows on Saturdays and 2 p.m. shows on Sundays.

Auditions will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on May 18 & 19, 2019 at WSRep’s rehearsal space, located at 140 W. Terra Cotta Avenue in Crystal Lake. To request an audition slot, please email
