We are thrilled to announce open auditions for the production of the multiple Tony Award winning musical, “Sweeney Todd”, at the School Street Playhouse. Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Book by Hugh Wheeler. Could be the last opportunity to star in this amazing show before it goes on national tour next year.

Audition Information
Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 7:00 pm – 10:00 PM
Weds, July 10th, 2024 7:00 pm – 10:00 PM

Call Backs
Saturday, July 13th, 2024 10:00 am – 2:00 PM

Auditions will run in 1-hour segments. Prepare to sing 16-32 bars of a song and it can be from the musical or in a similar style. Please bring an audition track. There will be cold reads from the script. Please be punctual and be able to stay for the entire hour or longer. No monologue required.

Roles
All roles available. Open to ages 16 and up. Non-equity, non-paying and no fee.

Production and Performance Dates

Rehearsals begin the week of July 22nd. Day and times to be announced shortly but will be in the evenings and some Saturday mornings.

Show runs Friday, Sep 20 – October 13, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM.

Directed by Lisa C Sherouse and musically directed by Mark Schroeder.

Roles:

Sweeney Todd

A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against him. He is Johanna's father, singularly focussed on taking bloody revenge. Our story's tormented protagonist.

An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. She falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture.

A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. He helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna.

A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd.
