The Limelight Theatre Company is SEEKING ADDITIONAL SUBMISSIONS FOR the following roles in Songs for a New World:
Man #1: 18-40; vibrant optimist who has the ability to lift up himself and those around him through faith and determination. Tenor, D3-C5. BIPOC.
Man #2: 25-50; worldly wise, subtle and reserved. Baritone, F2-Ab4. Any ethnicity.
**Though we are looking ideally for more Male applicants, we will still be accepting additional submissions for the other 2 female roles. All ethnicities and genders encouraged.**
SYNOPSIS
It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.
Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams... and a soulless marriage.
IMPORTANT DATES
First Rehearsal: August 2, 2021 (Rehearsals in Brewster, NY)
Tech: August 23-26
LIVE Performances: August 27-29th (Schoolhouse Theatre in Croton Falls)
You must be available for all shows and tech week to submit. All rehearsal and performance venues are easily accessible via car or walking distance from Metro North Train.
Rehearsals and performances will be a hybrid schedule of both indoor and virtual rehearsals following all covid safety protocols. Songs for a New World performances will be presented in both live performances with a limited audience, and live streamed performances as well. Rehearsals will take place during the evenings and there is no housing for this production.
