SYNOPSIS:
SWEEP by Georgina Escobar is, at its most simple, a play inspired by sci-fi graphic novels, the Bible, humanity, and the unbridled imagination of a child. Escobar’s SWEEP had it’s world premier at Aurora Theatre, Inc. (Lawerenceville, GA), a developmental workshop at Lincoln Center Theatre (New York, NY), and was a finalist for the 2016 National Latino Playwriting Award. SWEEP is a hilariously beautiful look at the world, history, and world history by a playwright who asks you to feel rather than think, to experience rather than listen, and to believe in magic. A sci-fi graphic novel of a play, SWEEP examines religion, gender roles, and the choices we make in everyday life. It’s also about a magic broom.
