SWEENEY TODD in Concert Auditions

The Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center and the Community Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce auditions for a benefit concert presentation of SWEENEY TODD which will be presented at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Centers on Sunday February the 15th, 2015. The concert is being done to raise funds for the Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies. The concert will feature Broadway performers alongside area talent. Singing actors of all shapes and ethnicities from the ages of sixteen to mid-sixties are being sought.

Singing auditions will be held on the following dates on the mainstage at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m.:

Sunday October 19th: Adults/teens auditioning for principal roles listed below

Sunday October 26th.: All people interested in featured ensemble/chorus

Monday October 27th: Final callbacks

There will be additional auditions for the non-singing roles of “The Bird Seller” and “Passerby” (Note- ONLY high school seniors will be considered for those two roles). Those auditions will be held on the the mainstage at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday October 26th..

The production team is actively seeking singing actors for only the following roles:

Johanna- a beautiful blonde ingénue who appears to be in her late teens. Mentally fragile, she needs to have comedic as well as dramatic acting ability. Must have a solid high B flat and have a legit soprano voice with strong mid-range and be able to handle patter material. Must be 18 to mid-twenties.

Anthony- a handsome and idealistic young sailor who reads early to mid-twenties. Handsome and sincere, he must have a legit voice to a high G and be able to handle patter material.

Tobias- a slight, barely post-pubescent male in his teens to early twenties who reads young. Innocent, damaged, vulnerable and sincere- he must have a strong tenor range and be able to handle complicated rhythms. He sings to a high A Flat.

Beadle Bamford- the Judge’s malevolent “yes” man. Oily, smarmy and corrupt, he is a counter-tenor or high/baritone or tenor with a controlled, high falsetto. He must sing to a High D sustained in falsetto or counter-tenor.

All those interested in auditioning for the four principal roles are asked to prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a musical theatre song that shows range and acting ability. Additional songs should be prepared in the event that the casting panel wants to hear more. There will be no dance call as part of this audition. Singers must have sheet music in the correct key- no one will be allowed to sing a cappella or to a pre-recorded track. A pianist will be provided.

Those auditioning for the featured ensemble/chorus will be taught choral music selections at the audition and asked to sing in groups.

All high school seniors interested in the roles of “The Bird Seller” and “Passerby” will be asked to do a cold reading. Both male and female students of all ethnicities and physical types are encouraged to audition. Please note that the dialogue requires a British dialect, preferably Cockney so auditionees must audition with an appropriate accent.

Interested parties should email:
PPACSweeney@gmail.com to obtain an audition time and should electronically submit a headshot and resume (if possible).
