SHAWCHICAGO Theater Company Proudly Announces

2017-18 Season Auditions

ShawChicago offers Equity and non-Equity auditions for its 2017/18 season, Dysfunctional Family Fun: 1776-1926. The season will include George Bernard Shaw’s The Devil’s Disciple, Margaret Raether’s Jeeves In Bloom, based on the works of P.G. Wodehouse, and Noel Coward’s Hay Fever. The audition will take place on April 17 at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60610.

ShawChicago is committed to diversity and encourages all performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to attend auditions.

Equity auditions occur from 10 am to 2 pm. Non-Equity auditions from 4 pm to 9 pm. Non-equity actors receive pay. Appointments can be made online at

. Walk-ins will be admitted in order of arrival if space is available.

What To Prepare:
Actors are asked to bring two-2 minute Shaw monologues (no need to memorize), three headshots, and Equity card if they have one.

About the Plays:
The Devil's Disciple: Dick Dugeon, disgruntled with the British Empire, is about to join the American Revolution. But when he is arrested and sentenced to be hanged for treason, a minister and his wife have to save him. But first, they need to work out their marital affairs.

Jeeves In Bloom: Bertie Wooster is once again on a desperate mission: avoid marriage. Upon invitation to the countryside, Bertie and his faithful manservant Jeeves find themselves caught up in a web of plans. Bertie’s schoolmate, Gussie, is in love with Madeline Basset. Meanwhile, Bertie’s Aunt Dahlia is planning the diamond heist of the century, and she wants to enlist Bertie in the theft. But everything goes wrong. Friendships fall apart, and Bertie’s reputation is about to be ruined. Can Jeeves save the day?

Hay Fever: In the Bliss house, turmoil is about to strike. Judith Bliss, a retired actress, is dying for the spotlight. David Bliss, her husband, is about to complete his latest novel. They and their children, Sorel and Simon, have each invited a guest to dinner. However, no one knows that anyone outside the family is coming. The four divas of the house are about to tussle.
