CONTRACT:
Non-Equity, Summer Repertory Theatre
Full season rate is $4,500 plus a $500 travel stipend. Housing is provided. Most actors will perform in all three productions as well as a cabaret series and a developmental workshop of a new musical by Writer in Residence, Alexander Sage Oyen. Some actors will be asked to participate in a theater educational staff position in lieu of a third performance position.

DATES:
Actors will be onsite in Colorado May 28, 2018 – August 20, 2018.

APPOINTMENTS:
To schedule an appointment, email your headshot and resume to the SCRT Casting Staff at casting.scrt@gmail.com. Each actor will be assigned a time slot. Please prepare two contrasting 32 bar selections from musical theatre in the style of the shows. Choosing pieces from the shows is encouraged. You may only be asked to perform one of the pieces. After scheduling an appointment, in the confirmation email you will receive one short side from God of Carnage to prepare. This season will include non-traditional casting; all are encouraged to audition for any role.

ABOUT:
Heading into its 15th season, the SCRT is the region’s crown-jewel for performing arts. Each summer the SCRT brings a company of actors, designers, and directors to Trinidad, CO for the repertory company. In 2013, Trinidad became a Certified Colorado Creative District and is now the demonstration project for Colorado’s Space to Create program fueling a surge in downtown historic building renovations and creative enterprise. With a rich history in the arts and creative achievement, Trinidad's downtown Creative District is a focal point of tourism and continued economic growth.


BREAKDOWN:
Fly By Night Casting Breakdown
NARRATOR: Female, 33-49
Mysterious and charismatic; plays many different characters both men and women of all ages and backgrounds; must be able to make strong, clear physical and vocal choices and shift effortlessly on a dime; someone we want to follow into the unknown; must have excellent timing and be good with comedy as well as being able to clearly tell the story. Rock alto. Vocal Range: B2 – A4 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

HAROLD: Male, 23-29
Awkward and unsatisfied; nevertheless got a hopeful; yearning energy about him; looking for someone or something to push him to break out of his shell; not a traditional leading man but he must be someone that we root for; excellent actor who is good with comedy; must play guitar very well; rock baritenor. Vocal range: A2 - D5 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

DAPHNE: Female, 20-27
Miriam’s sister; an aspiring actress who has had success in her small town and wants to make it big in New York; ambitious, and bursting with confidence and drive; also possesses a real humanity and vulnerability; excellent singer/actress who is great with comedy; strong pop belt with a good mix and solid soprano. Vocal range: F3 - E5 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

MIRIAM: Female, 26-34
Daphne’s sister; a dreamy waitress who was content with simple pleasures of her small town life, but accompanies her sister to New York; an astronomy nerd and has a special understanding of her place the universe; possesses a quiet radiance that draws the audience in; sweet indie rock sound. Mezzo Vocal range: D3– D#5 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

MR. MCCLAM: Male, 56-67
Harold's father; a former marine who silently loves his son and is lost since losing his wife Cecily, his true love; solid actor who has something about him that is sincerely loveable as well as a stoic strength; must be excellent singer; baritone. Vocal range: A2 - A4 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

CRABBLE: Male, 54-64
A sandwich shop owner and former air traffic controller in World War II; frustrated with his life and has an endearingly grouchy edge; strong comic character actor; baritone. Vocal range: C#3 - E4 Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

JOEY STORMS: Male, 23-34
A charming, charismatic, self-doubting playwright who is crumbling under the tremendous pressure of being from a family of great writers; his fear of not living up to his family’s legacy manifests itself in a manic energy, strong comic actor; baritone. Vocal range: E3-Bb4

EVITA Casting Breakdown
EVITA: Female, Must be able to play ages 18 to 33
She is ambitious, power-seeking woman who rises to become the spiritual leader of Argentina by the age of 26. A legit Mezzo with a clear, strong mix that can belt to a high G and sing to a low E (below middle C). Must be a passionate and strong actor who can move well.

CHE: Male, 18-35
Dashing, impulsive, jealous, and manipulative. Che is a political activist and the narrator of the show. A radical who isn’t reluctant to ask tough questions and demand answers. An actor/singer that must move very well with a high, rock tenor voice that can sing a low A to high B, falsetto to high F.

PERON: Male, 30-50
An officer in the Argentinean army who rises to become the Argentine President. He is a man who is dignified, charming, and authoritative. A strong actor and singer who can play character/leading man. Vocal bass/baritone to high F.

MISTRESS: Female, 18-30
A very beautiful, fragile, vulnerable, innocent young girl who plays Juan Peron’s teenaged Mistress. She will also appear in the ensemble. Must be able to move well and sing a low A to a high E.

MAGALDI: Male, to play 25 – 35
A tango singer with whom Eva has her first love affair. A charming loser – never quite made it. He will also appear in the ensemble. A personality type and feel that needs to be bigger than life but remains grounded. Sings high tenor High G.

God of Carnage Casting Breakdown
ALAN RALEIGH: Male. A lawyer. Married to Annette. He frequently interrupts their meeting by talking on his cell phone. His law firm represents a pharmaceutical company that is about to be sued.

ANNETTE RALEIGH: Female. Works in “wealth management.” Married to Alan. She is constantly on the brink of a panic attack. Like Veronica, she wants resolution and believes at first that communication can ameliorate the situation between the two boys. The pressures of motherhood and household have eroded her self-confidence.

MICHAEL NOVAK: Male. Owner of a wholesale company. Married to Veronica. At first, Michael seems eager to create peace between the two boys and perhaps even bond with the Raleighs.

VERONICA NOVAK: Female. A writer. Married to Michael. At first she seems like the most benevolent of the bunch. Of the four principles, Veronica exhibits the strongest desire for harmony.
