The Reedy Point Players are pleased to announce auditions for our first show of the 2018-2019 season, ROMEO & JULIET, directed by Erin Miller.
This will be a modern adaptation of this classic tale. Same shakespearean language, but a modern setting… New York City!
**Please be advised some roles have been combined due to minimal lines, and there are some lines that have either been omitted, added or re-worded to accommodate the 21st century setting.**

All auditions begin at 7 PM
All auditions will be located inside the Delaware City Library (250 Fifth Street, Delaware City, DE 19706)
All roles are open! We encourage ALL ETHNICITIES to audition!
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. To show your range, you may prepare a Shakespearean monologue, but please keep it under 2 minutes. A Shakespearean monologue is NOT REQUIRED. Please bring a headshot and resume. If you do not have one, do not worry, we still encourage you to audition! You do not have to have a background in Shakespeare to audition for this show. We encourage that all who audition should be familiar with the Romeo & Juliet story and characters.
Rehearsals will occur on Monday’s and Wednesday’s at 7 PM. This is a non-equity, community theater productions. There is no compensation, everything is volunteer.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
*ROMEO MONTAGUE*
(Age Range 20’s) The son and heir of Montague and Lady Montague.
*JULIET CAPULET*
(Age Range 20’s) The daughter of Capulet and Lady Capulet. Tybalt’s cousin.
*MERCUTIO*
(Age Range 20’s) A relative to the Mayor, and Romeo’s close friend. Overflows with imagination, wit, and, at times, a strange, biting satire and brooding fervor.
*BENVOLIO*
(Age Range 20’s) Montague’s nephew, Romeo’s cousin and thoughtful friend.
*ANGELICA (Nurse)*
(Ange Range 40's-50’s) Juliet’s nurse, has cared for Juliet her entire life. A vulgar, long-winded, and sentimental character, Angelica provides comic relief with her frequently inappropriate remarks and speeches.
*TYBALT*
(Age Range 20’s) A Capulet, Juliet’s cousin on her mother’s side. Vain, fashionable, supremely aware of courtesy and the lack of it. Aggressive. Violent. He loathes Montagues.
*FATHER LAURENCE*
(Age Range 40’s) A catholic priest. Friend to both Romeo and Juliet. Father Lawrence is also an expert in the use of seemingly mystical potions and herbs.
*CAPULET*
(Age Range 50’s) The patriarch of the Capulet family, father of Juliet, husband of Lady Capulet, and enemy, for unexplained reasons, of Montague.
*LADY CAPULET*
(Age Range 40’s-50’s) Juliet’s mother, Capulet’s wife. She is an ineffectual mother, relying on Angelica for moral and pragmatic support.
*PETER*
(Age Range 20’s-30’s) Capulet family assistant.
*MAYOR (Prince)*
(Age Range 30’s-50’s) Mayor of NYC. A relative of Mercutio and Paris. As the seat of political power in NYC, he is concerned about maintaining the public peace at all costs.
*PARIS*
(Age Range 20’s) A relative of the Mayor, and the suitor of Juliet most preferred by Capulet.
*MONTAGUE*
(Age Range 50’s) Romeo’s father, the patriarch of the Montague clan and bitter enemy of Capulet.
*LADY MONTAGUE*
(Age Range 40’s-50’s) Romeo’s mother, Montague’s wife.
*SAMPSON / OFFICER*
(Age Range 20’s) Sampson is a friend of Capulet’s, runs with Tybalt. Role is combined with a Police Officer
*GREGORY*
(Age Range 20’s) Friend of Capulet’s, runs with Tybalt
