Red Planet Blue is part of our TIPs (Theatre of Intriguing Possibilities) series. This production is a Spotlight on New Works.
As the commander and crew of a distant terraforming station nervously prepare for the moment they will press “the big red button”, remaking their desert planet into an earthly paradise, their work is complicated by the arrival of a documentarian determined to capture the historic moment, and a government inspector with her own doubts about the project. When a crewmember is mysteriously killed, this isolated group must determine the cause--a simple technological failure? Or has their attempt to reshape a world awakened something with a power beyond their understanding?
Auditions: Sunday, November 4 (4pm to 7p) and Monday, November 5 (7pm to 10pm)
Callbacks (by invitation only): Wednesday, November 7 (7pm to 10pm)

Requirements: Please come prepared with a 1 to 2-minute contemporary monologue. Bring an updated headshot and resume.

This production plays at The Wade James Theatre, home of Edmonds Driftwood Players from January 10-January 13, 2019. Performances are scheduled for Thursday - Saturday at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.
Rehearsal schedule will be finalized after casting, but will include Monday-Thursday evenings (7 to 10pm) and Saturday afternoons.

Lieutenant Hadley – Atmospheric Specialist for the terraforming project (Male 23 – 35; can be cast female)
Lieutenant Witt – Geologic Specialist for the terraforming project (Female 23 – 35; can be cast male)
Everett – An Artificial Intelligence (Any Gender or age)
Professor Duriel Vol – A genetically enhanced human, chief scientist for the terraforming project – (Female 40 – 50. Fit & athletic build; can be cast male. This character’s costuming is meant to look as if they are not wearing clothes at all, but will not actually be nude)
Commander Robert Holden – Commander of the terraforming project. Military and graceful poise (Male 50 – 62; character does appear in his underwear briefly)
Doctor Susan Reach – A systems analyst, professional, iconoclastic (Female Late 40’s – Late 50’s; character does appear in her underwear briefly)
Emory Bhatnager (Bhatty) – A Documentarian with a splash of smarm (Male 25 – 40; can be cast female)
