Provincetown Theater Casting 2020 Season
for Two Summer Premiere Productions
Director David Drake seeks actors for Jerker & The Lady Hamlet
On the weekend of February 29 & March 1, the Provincetown Theater will hold open auditions for two summer productions in its 2020 season at the company’s playhouse at 238 Bradford Street in Provincetown, MA 02657. Seeking a diverse range of union and non-union performers for the world premiere of Sarah Schulman’s rollicking comedy The Lady Hamlet, and the Cape Cod premiere of Robert Chesley’s intimate love story Jerker. Audition sides for both productions will be available at the Provincetown Theater starting Tuesday, February 25 during business hours (1-6pm) as well as at the auditions.
WHEN:
Saturday, Feb 29 from noon-6pm
Sunday, March 1 from noon – 6pm
THE LADY HAMLET
A play by Sarah Schulman / World Premiere
A rollicking, whip-snap comedy centered on the duel between two stage divas at the turn-of-the-century to see who will be the first – and best! – female Hamlet on Broadway.
SEEKING FOUR ACTORS:
- Union or non-union actress for the leading role of the elegant stage star “Madame Helene de Montpelier” (inspired by Sarah Bernhardt). Anywhere in age from 35-55, actress must be adept at classical verse, and verbal and physical comedy.
- A cigar-chomping Broadway producer, age 40-60, male. Non-union.
- A tireless young male dresser, age 20-30. Non-union.
- A hardworking Irish dresser, female, age 30-40. Non-union.
REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES:
Rehearsals begin June 1, 2020 in Provincetown, MA. The Lady Hamlet plays Mondays - Thursdays, June 29 – July 23. Union actors receive point-of-origin guest AEA contract, non-union actors favored-nations weekly salary.
JERKER
A play by Robert Chesley / Cape Cod Premiere
A love story about two gay men in San Francisco in 1987 who develop an unexpected bond via the oft-ridiculed activity of phone sex.
SEEKING ONE ACTOR:
- Casting non-union male actor age 25-35 for the role of Bert. (Role of JR is cast.) A naturalistic play, actor must be adept with a wide range of emotions, and be comfortable with nudity.
REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES:
Rehearsals begin July 7, 2020 in Provincetown, MA. Jerker plays Mondays – Thursdays, Aug 3 – Sept 3. Negotiated weekly salary.
