PETER PAN - High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience

THE 7th ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE EXPERIENCE PRESENTS

PETER PAN

AUDITION DATES: APRIL 28th & 29th

PERFORMANCE DATES: JULY 27th – AUGUST 5th

WILSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS

JACKSONVILLE, FL –The Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts and The Artist Series are proud to present the High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience, which provides the opportunity for local area high school students to work hands-on with some of the highest recognized local and regional theatre professionals at the Wilson Center for the Arts. This year, participants will perform Peter Pan from July 27th – August 5th at the Wilson Center for the Arts on Florida State College at Jacksonville’s South Campus (11901 Beach Blvd).

Free auditions will be held on April 28th and 29th at the Wilson Center for the Arts. Auditions are open to current 7th - 12th grade students in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau and outer lying counties. Participants should only attend one audition date.

Previous experience is not required. Actors, dancers, singers, technicians, and musicians are needed. This is a musical, so all stage actors in the production must sing. If you are not a strong singer, DO NOT let this discourage you from auditioning! There are many roles that require other talents! The audition schedule is as follows:

Tumbler and Gymnast auditions begin at 10 a.m.

Come dressed to dance and move. (This is an audition for non-singer/dancer/actors with special tumbling skills ONLY. All others should attend the 1 p.m. audition. Singing is not required during this audition but is required for all stage actors in the production. Those attending this audition will not be considered for lead roles.)

Pit Orchestra auditions begin at noon.

Prepare 16-32 bars of music that represent your best work (an FBA solo selection would be appropriate). We are looking for students who play the following instruments: Flute/Piccolo, Oboe/English Horn, Bassoon/Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Drums/Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass.

Actor, Singer and Dancer auditions begin at 1 p.m.

Prepare 16-20 bars of music that best represent your vocal range along with the sheet music (singing a cappella or with a recording is not acceptable.) Come dressed to dance and move.

Technician meeting begins at 1 p.m.

Interest areas include Set Construction, Props, Costumes, Painting, Sound, Lights, Stage Management, etc.

Call Backs for speaking roles will be May 5th and 6th. A participation fee is required, which covers costume rental, show memorabilia, etc. Scholarships/payment arrangements are available.

This year, several students will have the opportunity to soar to new heights thanks to the expertise of
Zealous Flying Effects
(ZFX). Watch this

Peter Pan, like its namesake, is a tale which never ages. Children and adults alike have all fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting adventures happen every day.

The ever-popular
characters are still there - Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, the dastardly Captain Hook and his sidekick Smee, Tiger Lily, the Lost Boys, pirates, Indians, Tinkerbell, Nana the family dog and, of course, that scary crocodile.

Peter Pan, published by Samuel French, is now one of the most popular shows in their catalogue and has garnered its fair share of Tony awards to prove it. The musical version ofPeter Pan was adapted from the play by Sir James M. Barrie. Lyrics are written by Carolyn Leigh, Music by Mark “Moose” Chaplin, additional music by Jule Styne and additional lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

"A delightful entertainment. . . . The young in heart of all ages will love it.'—N. Y. Daily Mirror
