ROVER DRAMAWERKS ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS
FOR YOUTH ACTORS, AGES 10-18
Out of the Frying Pan

Monday, June 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Auditions will be at Rover Dramawerks, located at 221 W. Parker Road, Suite 580 in Plano, at the northwest corner of 75 and Parker Rd. in the Ruisseau Village Shopping Center.
Brief Synopsis:
A group of would-be young actors share an apartment above that of a Broadway producer who is casting a show. When he comes upstairs to borrow a cup of flour, the kids aren't going to let him leave until he sees their work, but their performance of a murder mystery is so realistic that the cops show up, with hilarious results!
Roles: 5 men, 5 women, 2 either
GEORGE BODELL - A lazy and completely good-natured young man. His voice is slow and he has a dry, flat way of saying things. Not clownish but sunny.
NORMAN REESE - He is the capable member of the group. He takes care of things, sees that appointments are kept, watches over the others like a mother hen with her chicks. A leader.
TONY DENNISON - the handsomest of the three boys. He is all and deeply sincere, but is inclined to be a bit discouraged at the moment. Not mopey by nature, just having a hard time.
KATE AULT - the cynic of the crowd. She has probably been in New York trying to get a break in the theater for a longer time than any of the others. Worldly.
MARGE BENSON - a little more serious than the others-- and in being more serious, seems a little older—more reserved and thoughtful, a planner.
DOTTIE COBURN - A petite, bubbly girl, young and attractive, always a little vague. She is of the Dumb Dora type, but quite cheerful and happy about everything. She is the baby of the crowd and a bit naïve. Sweet and very much a daydreamer.
MRS GARNET - their bewildered and uncomplaining landlady. She is never quite sure whether she is watching a play or a scene from real life. Probably the answer to it all is that behind her whimsical exterior she is envious because she is stage struck too. Bustling and kind, she is confused, not unintelligent.
MURIEL FOSTER - Dottie's friend from Boston. She is petulant, suspicious, and later on woe-begone with a voice like a tired Minnie Mouse. In spite of all this, she is not unattractive. Spoiled and sheltered.
ARTHUR KENNY – Dry and unemotional. He is dignified at all times, fastidious and dresses well. Despite his outward formality, he is passionate and very shrewd.
MR COBURN - a successful business man turned politician. He is on the Board of Censors in Boston-- of some wealth, just enough to be snobbish. He explodes rather easily, but tries to maintain his poise. Blustery.
FIRST COP – (May be male or female) the intellectual type of policeman-- a career man. He tries very hard and wants to be obliging. The leader of the two cops.
SECOND COP – (May be male or female) the dumb but earnest type. Even if you drew him a diagram he would not understand it. Upbeat.

- Be prepared to read scenes from the script.
- Please bring a resume and head shot. If unavailable, a recent photo is fine.
- References may be required.
- Actors must be between 10 and 18 years of age (inclusive) at the time of the performances.
- Youth actors will not be paid.
- There are NO TUITION REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER FEES to be involved with this production.
- Rehearsals will be in Plano and will begin the week of June 19.
- Rehearsals will generally be weekday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sundayafternoons or evenings at Rover Dramawerks. Exact schedule TBD based on actor availability. Actors should be prepared to list all conflicts through August 5 at auditions. Actors with performance conflicts (August 3-5) need not audition.
