Music, Lyrics and Book by Lionel Bart
REVIEWING THE SITUATION...
In an effort to truly live up to its name, Little Radical Theatrics will be bringing to Westchester a wildly theatrical, moving, and innovative retelling of one of musical theater's most celebrated classics, Lionel Bart's OLIVER. Utilizing the iconic Charles Dickens novel, embracing the darkness and grittiness of his original text, we will begin at the end. With the aid of an ensemble cast, a stark, minimalist set, and the limitless possibilities of imagination, we enter a lonely, condemned cell in Newgate Prison, wherein the 70-year-old Fagin spends his last two hours alive before his execution being haunted by the people and events that led to his inevitable demise. The timeless story of the young orphan boy navigating through the seedy underbelly of London's crime world will be turned on its head. This will also be the first production of the newly released London 2009 Palladium Revival version!
Seeking adults and kids of all ages for all roles NOTE: many of these roles will double. Seeking a cast of about 15 adults and 5-10 children including Oliver and Charley Bates.
Fagin
An elderly receiver - runs training academy for young pickpockets.
Oliver Twist
A workhouse boy about 12 years of age.
The Artful Dodger
Fagin's brightest pupil - to play 16-18.
Bill Sikes
A villian in his prime.
Nancy
23 years old - a graduate of Fagin's academy, and a prostitute
Bet
A 15 year old lass in Fagin's establishment - idolises Nancy.
Mr. Bumble
A large and pompous Beadle of the workhouse.
Mrs. Corney
A sharp-tongued, domineering widow - the Workhouse Mistress.
Mr. Brownlow*
An old gentleman of wealth and breeding.
Mr. Sowerberry:*
The Undertaker.
Mrs. Sowerberry:*
Mr. Sowerberry's wife and his overseer. (may be played by a man in drag)
Charlotte:*
The Sowerberry's sluttish young daughter.
Noah Claypole:*
Mr. Sowerberry's pimply apprentice.
Mr. Grimwig:*
A Doctor.
Mrs. Bedwin:*
The Brownlow's Housekeeper.
Old Sally:*
A Pauper.
Charley Bates*:
A boy in Fagin's establishment. 13-16
Fagin's Gang:
Children who pickpocket for Fagin. Will also be the workhouse children in the beginning and be involved in several full company numbers.
Ages 9-14
*NOTE*: many of these roles will double, especially those that only appear in act one/act two. For example Mr. Sowerberry will most likely double with Mr. Brownlow as well as being involved in the big company numbers as a member of the ensemble. Those roles will also be the soloists in Who Will Buy?. We are looking for a cast of approximately 15 adults and 5-10 kids.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare 32 bars of musical theater song in the style of the show showing range, acting ability, and personality. An accompanist will be provided. No monologue required. Have headshot/resume available upon request.
