The Addams Family

The Ogunquit Playhouse, America’s Foremost Summer Theatre, is holding auditions for children ages 6 to 13 for the 2014 productions of Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins and The Addams Family on Saturday, March 8 at 1:30PM at the New Hampshire Academy of Performing Arts, 875 Lafayette Road in Seabrook, New Hampshire, and again on Sunday, March 9 at noon at the Portland Ballet Company located at 517 Forest Avenue, Suite 2 in Portland, Maine. These are open call auditions, therefore no appointments will be taken in advance.

Participating children must prepare a brief musical theatre song which best shows their personality and abilities, and bring sheet music, in the correct key, as an accompanist will be provided. Dancers for Billy Elliot must bring comfortable clothes and ballet shoes. Performers may bring a picture with a resume stapled to the back. Children must be available for all rehearsals and performances.

Children selected for the children’s ensemble in Billy Elliot will be selected for two separate casts and will participate in a fee-based two-week rehearsal period prior to the show. Children must be available to perform in either 16 shows (2 weeks) or 24 shows (3 weeks) on the main stage. If given the option, performers may choose to do the entire five-week run (40 performances).

The Ogunquit Playhouse season opens with Grease, on stage May 21 to June 21. The popular rock n’ roll celebration of teen angst, fast cars and first loves is set in the fabulous fifties with songs that will make you want to stand up and shout, A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop a-wop-bam-boom! Next on stage is the astonishing international musical sensation Billy Elliot the Musical running from June 25 to July 26. This inspirational story of a young boy’s struggle against the odds to make his dream come true is heightened by the unforgettable music by Elton John, sensational dance and powerful storyline. The practically perfect Mary Poppins will fly over the rooftops of London and into the Ogunquit Playhouse from July 30 to August 30. This beloved family musical features the delightful songs from the popular Disney film including “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” The Ogunquit Playhouse was selected by Cameron Mackintosh to be the American Northeast premiere of his hit musical stage adaptation of The Witches of Eastwick, on stage September 3 to 27. This sexy new musical comedy is based on the Warner Brothers hit motion picture starring Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and Cher about small-town New England women who wish for the man of their dreams ? and they get far more than they bargain for when the devil incarnate arrives to liven things up! “They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky!” The Addams Family closes the Ogunquit season October 1 through 26.
