SHOW SYNOPSIS
This delightful comedy features a cast of zany characters. Set in New England, the Barnsley Inn
is a dilapidated inn, supposedly haunted by Marco, a knife-throwing poltergeist. A group of
tourists on a ghost tour is forced to make an unscheduled stop for a night. But when the body
count starts to rise, the survivors try to figure out who done it. And who is next?
“Murder Inn” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

AUDITION REQUIREMENT
If you would like to check out the script before auditions, please contact Office@EdmondsDriftwoodPlayers.org.
Monologue: Please prepare a serio-comic or comedic monologue; 1 ½ minutes *max*. This show is full of zany characters. When you audition, we will specifically be looking for character traits or something that makes this character stand out. Open to what “character traits” you want to show us: accents, physical quirks, ticks, nervous habits - be creative. Have fun.
Accents: N/A
Headshot and Resume: Please bring one copy of each. The headshot does not need to be professionally made – a print out of a selfie will suffice. If this prevents a barrier to participation, please contact the office by Friday, July 12 to request your materials be printed.
ROLES
We are casting 12 actors: 4 male presenting roles and 8 female presenting roles. Actors of all ethnicity, gender, identity, and ability are encouraged to audition. *Note* We strongly encourage actors with improvisation experience to audition.
MALE PRESENTING ROLES:
· Jake Talbot (20 - 30’s) Son of the owner of the Barnsley Inn. A sturdy, no-nonsense young man. Not the sharpest tack in the shed. Brawn over brains.
· Donald Schultz (40’s) The van driver. Physically either heavy or very thin. Morose.
· Todd Currier (Late 20’s) Congenial, intelligent, pleasant to be around.
· Lawrence Currier (Mid to late 50’s) A college professor on sabbatical, doing research for a book. Widowed in the last couple of years. Distinguished and intellectual.
FEMALE PRESENTING ROLES:
· Martha Talbot (50’s) Owner of the Barnsley; cantankerous, glass is always half-empty.
· Agnes Tate “Middle Aged” (40+) Meddlesome, antagonistic, sarcastic, inconsiderate. Everyone’s murder victim of choice.
· Carolyn Pickett (Late 20’s) Niece and traveling companion for Agnes; attractive, unassuming,
pleasant.
· Ellen Halsey (Late 20’s to early 30’s) The tour guide, attractive and professional.
· Muriel Lampmann “Middle Aged” (40 -50) Petite and “ethereal”. A true believer in the occult.
· Patricia Simpson “Middle Aged” (40+) Reserved, nervous, always tense.
· Grace Sharp (60+) A retired school teacher; she’s petite and “fluffy,” and she looks helpless,
which is by no means the case. Traveling with her longtime friend, Doris Brooks.
· Doris Brooks (60+) Retired nurse practitioner. Matter of fact and sarcastic. Traveling with
Grace.
