Little Radical Theatrics is thrilled to announce auditions for its Summer 2023 All Ages Community Theater Production of Matilda!!

Performances July 27th - 30th (6 shows) at The Mandell Studio Theater at Lowndes Shakespeare Center (aka Orlando Shakes)
Rehearsals run Mon-Thurs 6:30/7-10 PM at Holiday Inn Express Rivers Conference Room 10771 International Dr Orlando Fl
Auditions by appointment Tuesday May 30th and May 31st from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Holiday Inn Express Rivers Conference Room. To make an audition appointment please email littleradicaltheatrics@gmail.comwith a headshot and resume (if you have them) and your preferred date and time.
Callbacks will be held June 3rd in the Rivers Conference Room from approx 12-5 PM
For the auditions please prepare a song from the show or 32 bars of a song in the style of the show ( musical theater that shows personality). You may either bring an instrumental track or sheet music in the correct key. A blue tooth speaker to play tracks and an accompanist will be provided.
Please note that we are a non-paying community theater though we will have a tip jar at performances from which the proceeds will be split amongst the cast!

Matilda Wormwood – An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. Mezzo. Ages 8 to 15
Miss Agatha Trunchbull – The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda’s school who despises children. Looking for an imposing performer with incredible comedic timing and a strong voice! Alto or Tenor. Ages 25 - 60
Miss Honey – Matilda’s kindhearted teacher. She is tired of living in fear under Miss Trunchbull. Soprano who is a strong actor. Ages 18 - 35
Mr. Wormwood – Matilda’s uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car salesman. Baritone with wonderful comedic timing. Ages 25 - 60
Mrs. Wormwood – CAST
Michael Wormwood – Matilda’s older brother. He is not very bright and favored by their parents. Ages 15-30
Mrs. Phelps – A nice librarian who is always kind to Matilda. Strong actor with great comedic timing that can also be motherly. May double in the ensemble. Ages 25-60+
Bruce – Matilda’s classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. Strong singer and mover with good comedic timing. Ages 8-15.
Lavender – Matilda’s classmate and friend. Strong actor with a strong voice and good comedic timing. Ages 8-15.
Amanda, Nigel, Hortensia, Eric, Alice, Tommy: Matilda's classmates. All have significant amount of lines and solo singing! Must all be strong actors, strong singers and good movers with great comedic timing. Ages 6-15
The Escapologist – A character in a story Matilda tells to Mrs. Phelps who comes to life in their imagination. Strong actor and good singer with movement ability. Tenor. May double with other roles and will double in the ensemble. Ages 18-50
The Acrobat – A character in a story Matilda tells to Mrs. Phelps who comes to life in their imagination. Strong actor, singer and dancer. Mezzo. May double with other roles and will double in the ensemble. Ages 16-50
Rudolpho – Mrs. Wormwood’s ballroom dance partner. Great actor and dancer with wonderful comedic timing. Will double in the ensemble. Tenor Ages 18-35
Doctor – Mrs. Wormwood’s Doctor when she goes into labor with Matilda. VERY strong singer, sings the opening number of the show. Mezzo or Baritone with strong comedic timing. May double with other roles and will double in the ensemble. Ages 18-50+
Children’s Entertainer – A party entertainer at the start of the show. Strong comedic role. May double with other roles and will double in the ensemble. Ages 16-75+
Ensemble {Cook, Sergei, Henchman 1, Henchman 2, Henchman 3, Nurse, Parents, Older Students}- Actors to play a multitude of featured roles that include major scenes and solo singing including but not limited to the above. Strong actors, movers and singers with great comedic timing. Ages 16-75+
Younger Students Ensemble - Ensemble members of Matildas class. May understudy principal children’s roles. Strong actors and singers with movement ability. Age Range 6-15.
