Hershey Area Playhouse Holding Auditions for My Name is Asher Lev
Hershey Area Playhouse is holding auditions for its first Dark Night Series production of 2016, My Name Is Asher Lev, on Friday, March 18, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 19, at 4 p.m.
Written by Aaron Posner and adapted from the novel by Chaim Potok, My Name is Asher Lev follows the journey of a young Hasidic Jewish painter torn between his Hasidic upbringing and his desperate need to fulfill his artistic promise. When his artistic genius threatens to destroy his relationship with his parents and community, young Asher realizes he must make a difficult choice between art and faith.
Auditions will take place at the Playhouse, located at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Cherry Drive, Hershey. Roles for five men and three women are available. Anyone auditioning for the role of Asher Lev should be prepared to tell a compelling or interesting story no longer than two minutes in length. All actors will complete cold readings from the script. Copies of the play’s script are available for perusal at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey.

Performances for My Name is Asher Lev will be held May 5-7, 2016, at the Playhouse.
