Tech week begins January 3rd
The show opens on January 9th, 2025 and runs for 5 weeks, 5 shows a week. Performance times are: Thursday evening, Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday matinee
Synopsis:
Come on down to Local Singles- the YMCA's finest support group for lonely people. Through break-ups, crushes, a pregnancy, pure insanity, and THREE twists along the way, Local Singles, a new musical by Nick Navari, will make you laugh and break your heart, but you'll walk away with a song stuck in your head, knowing that love still exists, no matter how complicated it can be. A small cast and band come together to create a comedic, heart-felt, vibrant show which tells a story that champions platonic love, a rare subject, but one so relatable to any audience.
SEEKING:
Penny (Soprano - Mezzo <F#3 - C#5>, 20s-30s) - Penny is a strong woman who gets through life by being rational, kind, and steadfast. She has the skills to handle whatever life throws at her- even if it means raising a baby by herself- but sometimes she wishes that life would have an instruction manual.
Wes (Tenor - Baritone <B2 - F#4>, 20s-30s) - Wes is one of the good guys. After aimlessly roaming the earth for 20 some years, Wes is ready for his life to mean something. He comes to the singles group by accident, but realizes that it might be just what he needs.
Jack (Tenor - Baritone <E3 - F4>, 20s-30s) - Jack is a little out there- but all he wants is to find the right girl. Though his methods are often questionable (he thought that getting a tattoo of his middle school crush's name on his back would make her swoon...it didn't), the Singles Group is rooting for him along the way.
Nancy (Soprano - Alto <C4 - E5>, 30+) - Nancy is the leader of the singles group. Although previously unsuccessful at making a match through her work, the group has come to love her caring, quick witted, and motherly nature. She is, for some reason, head over heels in love with Richard.
Richard (Tenor - Bass <E3 - E4>, 30+) - A man of mystery, Richard is usually just there most of the time. Despite any signs of affection towards his girlfriend Nancy, he always shows up to the singles group to support her. He doesn't say much- but sometimes you just need someone to be there for you.
The Ex (Soprano - Alto <C4 - C5>, 20s-30s) - A lively, independent girl with quite a few connections to the Local Singles group … much to her dismay.
Also casting two understudies to cover the Wes/Jack/Richard track and the Penny/Nancy/Ex track.
*Note that we are seeking STRONG comedic actors for all of these roles.

Local Singles was awarded a grant for a full production through the National Endowment for the Arts as a part of the Pittsburgh Community Supported Artist Performance Series, where it won 5 BroadwayWorld awards off of 16 nominations. The script has made the Coverfly RedList and has been ranked one of the Top Musical Stage Play Projects of All-Time
