Weathervane Playhouse is located at 100 Price Road, Newark, OH 43055-3380.
Weathervane Playhouse will be holding auditions for their 2013 winter production of LES MISERABLES. Weathervane Playhouse is Ohio’s longest running professional theatre, producing award winning summer productions since 1969. Auditions will be held at the Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio at the following dates and times:

September 21 & 22, 2013
Saturday. September 21, 2013
10:00AM – 5PM Singers / Actors & Youth Actors (you may be called back to sing again later that evening)
6PM-9PM Reading/Singing Callbacks

Sunday, February 24, 2012
1:00PM – 4:00PM Singers / Actors & Youth Actors (you may be called back to sing later that evening)
5:00-7:00PM Reading/Singing Callbacks

Please prepare 32 bars of two a contemporary or pop musical theatre songs. Please bring sheet music in your key, an accompanist will be provided.

Weathervane Playhouse, Ohio’s oldest professional summer stock theatre is seeking excellent singers for their December production of LES MISERABLES by Schönberg and Boublil.

Rehearsals will be scheduled at specific times starting December 7, 2013 with an opening night scheduled for December 19, 2013. Performance dates will be as follows: December 19, 20, (8PM) 21 (2pm matinee and 8PM); and December 26, 27, 28, (8PM) 29 (2pm matinee).
All rehearsals are expected to take place at Weathervane Playhouse (100 Price Road, Newark, Ohio 43055).

CHARCTER BREAKDOWN
Jean Valjean – Tenor/High Baritone (low G to high B flat) An ex-convict who leaves behind a life of hatred and deceit and makes his fortune while finding his fulfillment in loving his adopted daughter and his quest for redemption, and peace with God.

Javert - Bass/Baritone (low F to high F sharp) A police inspector who strictly believes in law and order and will stop at nothing to enforce France’s harsh penal codes. Javert is certain that Valjean deserves to be punished.

Cosette - (Soprano B flat to high C) Fantine’s daughter, who lives as Valjean’s adopted daughter after her mother dies. She finds fulfillment in her love for Marius. Cosette is innocent and docile, but her participation in Valjean’s many escapes from the law show that she also possesses intelligence and bravery.

Fantine – (G flat below middle C to D) A working-class girl who leaves her hometown of Montreuil-sur-mer to seek her fortune in Paris. She is pregnant and abandoned but makes a Herculean effort to feed herself and her daughter, Cosette.

Marius Pontmercy – (low A to High A flat) An innocent young man, Marius is manages both to fight on the barricades and successfully court the love of his life, Cosette.

M. Thénardier - (C below middle C to G sharp) A cruel, wretched, money-obsessed man who first appears as Cosette’s keeper and tormentor. A comedic song and stylized actor.

Mme. Thénardier - (G sharp to D) M. Thénardier’s wife. Mme. Thénardier is just as evil as her husband and takes special pleasure in abusing Cosette.

Eponine - (F sharp to E) The Thénardiers’ eldest daughter. Eponine is redeemed by her love for Marius. She proves that no one is beyond redemption, and she ultimately emerges as one of the most tragic and heroic figures.

Enjolras - The leader of the Friends of the ABC. Enjolras is a radical student revolutionary. He is both wild and beautiful. Together with Courfeyrac and Marius, Enjolras leads the insurrection at the barricade.

Gavroche - (youth actor-B below middle C to G) The Thénardiers’ oldest son. Gavroche is kicked out of the house at an early age and becomes a Parisian street urchin. He is also fierce and brave, and plays a decisive role in the barricade.

Young Cosette – (youth actor A below middle C to D) She is the child of Fantine and is forced into child labor by the Thennardiers. Sings “Castle On A Cloud”.

ENSEMBLE: numerous male and female singing roles and parts that play a variety of characters.
