The play: LOBBY HERO by Kenneth Lonergan.

Rehearsal Dates: Nov 9th - Dec 6th.

Show Dates: Dec 7th - 17th at The Alumnae Theatre.

LOBBY HERO tells the story of Jeff, a luckless young security guard trying to get his life together after being thrown out of the Navy, but the lobby proves to be no sanctuary from the world.

As Jeff is drawn into a local murder investigation involving his supervisor William, a tightly wound young man called upon to bear witness against his troubled brother, and a rookie policewoman Dawn, who is over her head with her seasoned but unscrupulous hero-cop partner Bill.

Characters:

JEFF (ROLE ALREADY CAST, DESCRIPTION FOR INFORMATION ONLY.), a 20-something year old, who was kicked out of the Navy for smoking marijuana, likes to joke but has lacked direction in his life. He’s an easy-going chatterbox, but knows his life seems to disappoint even himself. Jeff develops a crush on a young police rookie. Mid 20s.

WILLIAM, a black apartment building security captain and Jeff’s boss. A serious, disciplined, hard working, hones supervisor. He prides himself on taking responsibility and doing the right thing. Role requires smoking of herbal cigarettes. Late 20s - mid 30s.

DAWN (OPEN ETHNICITY), a police rookie. She is ambitious, earnest and a bit impulsive. She is determined to make her mark on the Police Force. Dawn is infatuated with her partner Bill, but quickly learns the harsh realities of Police Force politics. Optional smoking. Early-mid 20s.

BILL (OPEN ETHNICITY) an older, extremely charismatic, married Police Officer. Well liked in the department and awaiting his pending promotion to detective. He’s willing to make life easier for Dawn, if she’ll play by the rules. Optional smoking. Late 20s - Mid 30s.

All actors are invited to audition by sending their resume, headshot and two contemporary monologues no longer than 90 seconds each to auditions@icarcustheatre.ca [icarus theatre AT DOT ca]. At this time we are only looking for actors who can work as Toronto locals.

Rate: 600/wk. This is a NON-UNION production.
