Buck Creek Playhouse will hold open auditions for LITTLE WOMEN: The Broadway Musical with book by Allan Knee, Music by Jason Howland, and Lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, on Monday and Tuesday, February 7 and 8, 2022, at 7 p.m. at the playhouse,
11150 Southeastern Avenue.
Director Cathy Cutshall and Musical Director Emily Gaddy are looking for a diverse and non-traditional group of 6 women and 4 men plus ensemble. All roles are available.
AUDITION PREPARATION
Bring resume and headshot, if available.
Please be prepared to sing 32 bars of a prepared song showing your vocal range. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
You may be asked to read from the script or sing from the score.
LITTLE WOMEN is scheduled for nine performances for three weekends, June 3, 2022 – June 19, 2022.
Please bring a list of all conflicts from April 1, 2022 through June 19, 2022.
Rehearsals are tentatively set to begin in mid-April 2022.
Jo March
Female, age 18 to 23
Our story's protagonist. Passionate, adventurous, and brave. She has the idea of writing Little Women and eventually becomes engaged to Professor Bhaer.

Professor Bhaer
Male, age 35 to 45
German Professor who exemplifies proper manners. He is a boarder in Mrs. Kirk's boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo.

Amy March
Female, age 14 to 18
The youngest, most energetic sister with a rather pompous air about her. She later marries Laurie. Can double as Troll.

Meg March
Female, Age 21 to 25
The world-weary, yet hopeful, oldest sister who yearns for a great life. She marries John and has twins with him. Can double as Clarissa.

The second youngest sister who tragically dies of Scarlet Fever. Peace-maker, lover, and an optimist who is always encouraging her sisters to dream. Can double as Rodrigo II.

Female, Age 45 to 55
The girls' mother. She is the strong backbone of the family, who is courageous in spite of the difficult odds she faces. Can double as Hag.

Laurie's grandfather. Very stern, solidly built man in his early 70s.

A formidable, over-bearing matron and great-aunt to the March sisters. The wealthy socialite in town. Can double as Mrs. Kirk.

Laurie's tutor and a rather stiff man; shows very little emotion. He later marries Meg and changes.
