"Lend Me A Tenor"
The Adobe Theater’s Production of the Tony Award winning comedy “Lend
Me a Tenor”
Directed by Jane & Cy Hoffman
Production Dates: May 17 – June 9, 2013
NOTE: This is NOT a musical – it is a comedy with a little music.
Auditions will be held at the Adobe Theater Saturday 3/16 @ 1-5 PM and
Sunday 3/17 @ 6:30-9 PM
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script plus a little
singing for the roles of Tito, Max & The Bellhop.
Roles:
Saunders (male – 45-60ish) -Bombastic impresario of the Cleveland Grand Opera.
Max (male ~ 30) – An earnest assistant to Saunders who dearly loves
Maggie, dearly lovesopera, and desperately longs for courage. Ability
to sing a plus.
Maggie (female ~ 25) – Saunders’ daughter. A bit spoiled, she doesn’t
want to settle for the life she could have with Max.
Tito Merelli (male ~ 40) -A womanizing Italian who loves his wife. And
women. A World Famous Tenor known to his fans as Il Stupendo. Ability
to sing a plus.
Maria Merelli (female ~ 35) -A hot, showy, jealous, sensual,
territorial animal who isgrowing weary of her husband’s wandering eye.
Maria is proud and emotional.
Julia (female ~ 40-65) – Over-the-hill, ex-diva, for whom the Opera
Company is thecenter of her small, pretentious world. Wants to
get-it-on with Tito.
Diana (female ~ 25-35) – The leading soprano with the Opera Company.
Always ready to
sleep her way to the top. Beautiful, sexy.
Bellhop (male ~ 20-40) -Highly energetic fan of Tito’s, who uses his
occupation to getclose to the international star. . Ability to sing a
plus.
Comic timing is essential for all roles.
