To Audition for

Creative Music Program for Jazz

Winter Auditions: Sat., Feb. 1, 12pm to 4pm
Spring Auditions: Sat., Mar. 1, 12pm to 4pm

Students Offered Year-Long FREE Instruction, Master Class Workshops w. Access to World Renowned Musicians

WHO: The Kimmel Center Education Department invites young and talented instrumentalists, ages 11-20, to auditionfor slots in the Creative Music Program for Jazz. The Creative Music Program (CMP) for jazz provides vigorous training with seasoned teaching artists to practice in big band and small ensemble groups.

WHAT: The Kimmel Center Education Department’s Creative Music Program for Jazz prepares the students for careers in music and post-secondary continuation of their creative expression. CMP’s Meet the Masters series puts students in touch withinternationally renowned musicians for workshops.

Auditions to participate in the CMP for jazz year-long program are from noon to 4 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 1 (winter auditions) and Sat., Mar. 1 (spring auditions) at the Merck Arts Education Center (Tier 2) of the Kimmel Center. DETAILS: The Kimmel Center’s Creative Music Program for Jazz is a year-long music program intended to stimulate the creative faculties and musicianship of participating 11-20 year old students. The Kimmel Center Creative Music Program for jazz is a full and ongoing free weekend music program, intended for students between the ages of 11 and 20. The program focuses on stimulating each student's creativity, whilst simultaneously developing their musicianship, utilizing the framework of the jazz tradition.

Featuring three 16 piece jazz big bands, which regularly perform original CMP compositions, CMP’s approach offers a deeper understanding of the music, whilst promoting originality and creativity within both the student and faculty.

The program prepares each student for a career in music, or their continuation on to any institute of higher learning.

The Director of the Creative Music Program, Anthony Tidd, is a seasoned British-bred musician and pupil of the iconoclastic M-Base music collective. Tidd has worked on myriad Grammy® nominated and winning projects as band member and produced for The Roots and The Black Eyed Peas. Anthony Tidd’s curriculum draws from his replete experience and includesensemble instruction, improvisation, composition, ear training, music theory, public performances and celebrity master classes.
