Hunchback of Notre Dame ADULT AEA and non AEA auditions

NPT is seeking both AEA and non equity actors ages 20 years and older to play the following roles in the upcoming production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, performed at Fairfield Theatre Co.
NPT embraces multi-cultural, multi-gendered, and multi-generational casting. All ethnicities and abilities are ENCOURAGED to submit.

We will be holding auditions by appointment only on April 7th.
If requested, we will email you back with an appointment time. We will no longer accept submission after March 25th. You will receive a confirmation and time by April 1st and you must confirm the appt by April 4th.

CONTRACT
One or Two Guest artist contracts for AEA will be used for specific roles listed below. The rest of the show will be cast with LOCALl non AEA. (no housing provided for non AEA)
SEEKING:
AEA and non AEA actor/singers ages 20 years and older for the roles listed below. Some of the younger roles listed may be filled with college intern or high school students who have applied and are registered for our summer production.
PREPARATION:
Prepare one short song and download the appropriate sides for the roles you would like us to consider. Feel free to sing from the show. Total audition should be no more than 2 minutes. Bring pic/res. Accompanist provided. Bring your rep book.

An Equity monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition. Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination. Rehearsals and show schedule:
Please do not audition if you have a conflict during tech week.
Rehearsals start: July 30 (Monday- Sunday for the first week, Tuesday-Sunday 2nd and 3rd weeks)
Rehearsal Location: Emmanuel Church - 285 Lyons Plain Rd. Weston
Weekday rehearsals: 6-10 pm for adults (AEA may rehearse during the day) ?(Tuesday of Tech week also includes an evening rehearsal 5-10pm)
All Weekend rehearsals: 12-7pm ENTIRE cast (but specific calls times TBD)
Shows: Three shows the weekend of Aug 18t/19th (Saturday matinee and evening and Sunday Matinee)

Claude Frollo (Paul Bogaev is cast in this role)
Archdeacon of Notre Dame Cathedral and the most powerful cleric in Paris, he is the reluctant caretaker of Quasimodo. He will do whatever it takes to rid the city of the gypsy “vermin,” even as he lusts after Esmeralda. Calculating, manipulative, and obsessive. Gender: Male Adult Vocal range top: Bb4, bottom: E2
Jehan Frollo (seeking non equity for this role)
Claude’s reckless younger brother. With the gypsy Florika, he fathers Quasimodo, who he leaves in his brother’s care. Wild, passionate, and strong-willed.

A priest of Notre Dame and Claude and Jehan’s guardian.

Quasimodo (seeking AEA or non equity for this role)
The deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame and Claude Frollo’s charge. Lonely and staunchly obedient to Frollo, he possesses a vivid imagination that brings to life the bells and gargoyles of the cathedral. Despite his shyness and uncertainty, he quickly befriends Esmeralda. Big-hearted, and brave when need be. Must be an exceptional actor with great physical ability both in movement and story telling. We are specifically seeking actors of color for this role. Gender: Male Age: 20 -35
Clopin Trouillefou (seeking non equity for this role)
The clever and charismatic King (or Queen) of the Gypsies. An air of mystery surrounds Clopin, who often leaves the scene in a puff of smoke. As the master of ceremonies for the Feast of Fools, she or he is witty and playful, but boasts a darker, serious nature when not performing for the crowd.

Captain Phoebus de Martin (seeking non equity for this role)
Returning to Paris after serving in the war, Phoebus takes up his new position as Captain of the Cathedral Guard. Overconfident yet charming, this handsome, strong soldier makes the ladies swoon, yet his moral compass is also strong, and he openly defies the corrupted Frollo.

Lieutenant of the Cathedral Guard and loyal friend to Phoebus.

A beautiful and free-spirited gypsy who possesses the strong sense of justice and morality that Frollo lacks. Compassionate, she frees Quasimodo from the frenzied mob at the Feast of Fools and, against her better judgment, falls for the cocky Phoebus.
