Piedmont Players Theatre is holding Auditions for the Tony Award Nominated Musical, HANDS ON A HARDBODY Tuesday, May 31 & Wednesday, June 1, 2016. at 7PM. Callbacks will be held onThursday, June 2 at 7pm. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Performer should prepare 16 bars from a song in the style of the show. Must bring sheet music.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Hands on a Hardbody is a musical based on the documentary film Hands on a Hardbody. For 10 hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they'll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. The lives of each contestant, along with the car dealer and a radio announcer are revealed during the hardbody contest. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest that is HANDS ON A HARDBODY, only one winner can drive away with the American Dream!

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
JD DREW: 60ish. A “good old boy” with pomaded gray hair and a highwattage grin.
KELLI MANGRUM: A pretty 20-something brunette with steel ambition.
BENNY PERKINS: Late 30s/Early 40s. Lanky frame, weatherbeaten face, ingratiating grin and lots of homespun philosophy.
GREG WILHOTE: Early 20s. A freckled white kid in a baseball cap.
JESUS PENA: 20s. A driven Mexican kid.
CHRIS ALVARO: 20s. Well-built under his hoodie, a pair of aviator glasses conceal his eyes.
RONALD MCCOWAN: A goodnatured African-American with a slight Louisiana accent.
HEATHER STOVALL: 20s. A flirtatious blonde restaurant hostess.
VIRGINIA DREW: Mid 50’s. A one-time beauty settling into middle-age.
MIKE FERRIS: Late 30’s. Boyishly handsome, wears a cheap tie with a Nascar clip.
CINDY BARNES: 30s-50s. Former Miss Gregg County, still fond of pageant hair and pastels.
NORMA VALVERDE: 30s-40s A stout spiritual woman in tennis shoes and a floral applique t-shirt.
JANIS CURTIS: 50s-60s. A tough old bird with sun-burnished skin and missing teeth.
DON CURTIS: 50s-60s. Wears a cardboard sign on his head that proclaims “I LOVE YOU JANIS, GO BABY GO!
FRANK NUGENT: Disc Jockey, a diehard good ole boy dressed in a Stetson.
DOCTOR STOKES: A professor from LeTourneau University.
