LE PETIT THEATRE HOLDS OPEN AUDITIONS FOR HAIR, THE MUSICAL

New Orleans community theatre Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre will be holding open auditions for the popular rock musical HAIR, directed by Troy R. Poplous, Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 11am-4pm and Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 4-8pm. HAIR will run November 8-23, 2013. Music by Galt Macdermot; Book/Lyrics by James Rado and music by Gerome Ragni. Due to the mature content of HAIR, actors auditioning must be at least 18 years old and/or be able to play a role 18 years of age or older.
HAIR tells the story of the tribe, a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the Age of Aquarius living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves, and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society.

PARKING: Curbside, metered parking is available on nearby streets (FREE on Sundays, holidays, and every day after 6pm). Parking is available in nearby lots and garages as well.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Actors should bring a headshot and résumé. Actors should prepare 32 bars (1 minute) of a rock or pop song, and bring sheet music that can be played by accompanist. There will be a movement segment, so please dress comfortably.
LOMBARDI OPENS SEPT. 6
Le Petit’s regular season kicks off Sept. 6 with LOMBARDI. Ron Gural will direct the play about the legendary Green Bay Packer’s Coach Vince Lombardi. A cub reporter is assigned to do a story on Lombardi and is quickly immersed into the very real life of the man on the football field and in his personal life – revealing the passion, the drive, and the unique ability of this powerful figure to push others towards perfection.
Tickets are now available for eleven performances Sept. 6 – 21. Ticket prices range from $30-$50 with a special discount performance on Wednesday, September 18 at 8pm. Tickets for thatSept. 18 performance are $10-$20. All tickets may be purchased online at
