The Theatre Group at SBCC announces open auditions for GROUND by Lisa Dillman, February 10 & 11, 2014
The Theatre Group at SBCC will hold open auditions for Lisa Dillman’s new play GROUND, directedby R. Michael Gros, by appointment in the Jurkowitz Theatre on SBCC’s West Campus.
Auditions are by appointment on Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11 from 6-9:30pm.
Roles are available for 3 men (2 Latino, 1 Anglo) and 3 women (2 Latina, 1 Anglo). When Zell Preston inherits her father’s struggling pecan farm and moves back to her childhood home on the border of New Mexico, she finds that the once tight-knit community is now split by culture, law, visible and invisible boundaries. The government has cracked down on the undocumented immigrant population, dividing families and pitting neighbor against neighbor. Zell’s high school sweetheart, Carl Zelaya, defends his choice to work for the Border Patrol to his family and friends. Lisa Dillman’s challenging personal drama that takes place on the border between the laws of man and laws of culture along the US/Mexico border. Though a limited amount of dialogue is in Spanish, fluency is helpful but not required!
