Center Stage Theatre director Gary Scarpa will hold auditions for the theatre's upcoming production of Fiddler on the Roof on November 24th between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Adults, high school students, and college students from all towns are eligible to audition. All roles are open and newcomers as well as experienced actors are welcome to audition. Candidates will be required to sing one minute of a song of their choice, preferably from a Broadway musical. It is recommended that candidates use a soundtrack on CD or I-pod, which they provide, as an accompaniment as there will not be a pianist at the audition. Candidates will also be required to deliver a reading from the script which will be provided at the audition.
Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of Tevye, a poor dairyman, who tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semetism of Czarist Russia. Fiddler on the Roof has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth, and honesty. The original 1965 production of Fiddler on the Roof swept the Tony Awards, winning for Best Musical, Best Actor (Zero Mostel), and Best Choreography as well as others.
"Fiddler on the Roof is a play that my wife Fran and I have directed seven times in our career, and it remains one of very favorites. We are excited beyond words to bring this timeless classic to our Center Stage audiences," said Director Gary Scarpa.
